News and Reviews: July 28, 2017

Thursday 27 July 2017...I went to two events tonight...
4pm to 5.15pm
MASH PR - Christmas in July showcase - 91 Wimpole Street,London.
Around a dozen brands are showcasing their various products in the alfresco garden area.
Some of them will send me samples next week to do a full review.
My fave was a couple from Manchester who produce their own unique quality fragrances.
They were a bit surprised when I told them I had been to legendary Manchester club Pips
a couple of times in the early 80s which was pretty much the main club pre Hacienda. their website here for more info.
Complimentary Prosecco,Pimms, beers and canapés for all guests.
6.30pm to 11pm
ROLLS ROYCE PHANTOM - vip/press launch party - Bonhams,101 New Bond Street,London W1.
Rolls Royce Phantom 2018 was unveiled tonight in London.
The next-generation Rolls Royce is widely-tipped to push the boundaries of bespoke luxury.
Phantom is arguably in a class of its own when it comes to luxury automobiles and the brand has challenged perceptions since it was first introduced back in 1925.
This latest generation follows the VII, which was introduced 14 years ago.
In January, the last ever Rolls Royce Phantom, as we know it, rolled out of factory after 13 years in production.
We arrive at the venue and there is a film crew covering the stream of Rolls Royce Phantoms
and their owners arriving for the event.
Around 200 guests here and it is a black tie event so most men are wearing one.
JO WOOD the ex wife of Ronnie Wood was here.
We have the seven classic Phantom cars on display that are in perfect condition and look amazing.
Their previous owners include John Lennon, Fred Astaire and Aga Khan.
At 8pm there are speeches then we all go down to the ground floor which is all dark
and the stunning new Rolls Royce Phantom is unveiled.
We had a great chat with guy that was looking after John Lennon's old car.
He was from Canada which is where the car was shipped over from for this exhibition.
I got a couple of good photos of me with the car.
Complimentary Pol Roger champers,Gin cocktails and canapés for all guests.
A great event.
It is open to the public from Sat 29 July to Tues 02 admission...
John Lennons psychedelic Rolls-Royce to go on display at Bonhams,101 New Bond Street,London W1.

during its run from 2009 through 2011.

Tuesday 25 July 2017...I went to three events tonight...
5.15pm to 6pm
CADBURY - Christmas in July showcase - 19 Greek Street,Soho,London W1.
Cadbury, formerly Cadbury's, is a well known and much loved British multinational confectionery company
that operates in more than 50 countries worldwide. It is famous for its Dairy Milk chocolate, the Creme Egg
and Roses selection box, and many other confectionery products.
Cadburys have done a stunning job of transforming this three level space into a Christmas Wonderland
with artificial snow,Christmas trees, tinsel and decorated wallpaper throughout....and Chocolate everywhere...
Every family gets Cadbury tins and selection boxes at Christmas I reckon.
They also have 14 mixed tree decorations mixing Cadbury chocolate wiith Oreo biscuit.
A neat touch is for their tins of 'Heroes' assortment where for each tin bought ,Cadbury
will make a donation to the charity 'Help For Heroes'.
I had a nice cup of Caburys Hot Chocolate with rum along with some canapés.
All guests got a huge goodie bag of Cadburys treats including large tins of chocs and assorted selection boxes. the CADBURY website here for more info.
SMITH & WOLLENSKY , 1 John Adam Street, Off The Strand,London WC2.
Smith & Wollensky is a very popular restaurant chain in America
Chophouse chain outpost serving prime steaks & seafood in a clubby, power-dining setting.
This London branch is just off The Strand and a few yards from The Savoy Hotel.
Ideal location for all the many theatres nearby.
The decor looks fantastic with many cosy leather seats and the staff are dressed 'proper'.
The service and overall ambience is top notch.
It is over two floors and they have a nice long bar if you want drinks only.
I am using a £25 gift card that I recently got from a goodie bag.
I have a couple more gift cards that need to be used before the end of August.
I opted for starter and mains.
Sea Bass Ceviche with bread & butter - £8
Wollensky's Butcher Burger (smoked bacon, cheddar and french fries) - £16
They have set meal offers at lunch including a 'dish of the day' mains for £10.
The food was very tasty and well presented and I look forward to coming back here. their website here for more info.
PROM 15 'The Songs of Scott Walker (1967-1970) live at The Royal Albert Hall,London.
An icon of the 1960s, Scott Walker has travelled from Walker Brothers teen idol to avant-garde contemporary musician, influencing artists from David Bowie and Leonard Cohen to Goldfrapp along the way.
Tonight’s Prom tribute presents tracks from his four self-titled albums with live orchestral backing for the very first time.
Among the special guests are Jarvis Cocker, Richard Hawley and John Grant.
Also performing is Susanne Sundfør who is a female singer from Norway who is popular in her homeland.
She also recently headlined The Scala in London.
On 6 June 2017, Sundfør announced her sixth studio album Music for People in Trouble will be released on 25 August 2017 through Bella Union. The first single from the new album "Undercover" was released on the same day of the announcement.
She released the second single "Mountaineers" featuring John Grant on 24 July.
Scott Walker is now aged 74.
Walker continues to release solo material and is currently signed to 4AD Records. As a record producer or guest performer, he has worked with a number of artists including Pulp, Ute Lemper, Sunn O))) and Bat for Lashes. Walker's success has largely been in the United Kingdom, where his first three solo albums reached the top ten. Walker has lived in the UK since 1965; he became a British citizen in 1970.
Arrive at the venue and Richard Hawley is having a sneaky fag outside the artist door.
The venue is totally sold out is a hot and humid evening in here...
The show lasted around 85 mins with the four artists taking it in turns to sing the songs.
I don't really know much of the Scott Walker song catalogue to be honest.
Each artist performed two songs each then they went round again.
The crowd appeared to applaud each artist more than the actual song itself.
The 80 plus strong orchestra sounded fantastic throughout with many sweeping violins.
JARVIS COCKER sung four songs overall.
Backed by conductor Jules Buckley and the Heritage Orchestra, Cocker sang ‘Boy Child’,
‘Plastic Palace People’, 'The War Is Over (Sleepers)’ and ‘Little Things (That Keep Us Together)’.
JOHN GRANT sung four songs overall.
RICHARD HAWLEY sung four songs overall and played acoustic guitar.
SUSANNE SUNDFOR sung four songs overall.
For the encore they all came back and sung a song together.
Some nice vocals from each artist and Jarvis did some of his trademark dancing.
An enjoyable show but would have been better if i knew Scott Walker songs more.

Monday 24 July 2017...I went to two events tonight...
6.30pm to 8.15pm
LONDON RESTAURANT FESTIVAL - press launch party - Magpie,10 Heddon Street,London W1.
This event is normally held in September as London Restaurant Festival is in October where hundreds
of restaurants have special offers going on but they have moved it forward to July to coincide
with the opening of this restaurant this week called Magpie.
The Pidgin restaurant duo are rolling up their sleeves to get creative with the theme of dim sum in their first Zone 1 restaurant. Trolleys of dim sum at your table, and imaginative ingredients like fennel pollen,
gjetost and nukazuke pickles. Magpie officially opens 26 July.
Around 100 guests here in this restaurant that is not that big so was a bit tight for space.
Complimentary presecco,Remy Martin cocktails,gin and tonics,wines,beers,canapés and ice-cream
Not much food here for some reason which was odd considering it was a restaurant event.
10pm to 11.45pm
CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF - press/vip opening night party - National Gallery,Trafalgar Square,London WC2.
Sienna Miller and Jack O'Connell star in Tennessee Williams' searing masterpiece. Set on a steamy night in Mississippi, Benedict Andrews directs in the West is on at The Apollo,Shaftesbury Avenue.
It runs until 07 Oct 2017.
Sienna Miller marked her return to the West End at the opening night of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, as she joined celebrities including Charlotte Tilbury, Fiona Shaw, James Purefoy, Richard Madden, Bruno Tonioli, Kelly Hoppen, Dougie Poynter, Dan Gillespie (singer with The Feeling) at the show's afterparty. The actress's mother, Jo Miller, was also at the Apollo Theatre, as the star - dressed in Chanel - celebrated alongside co-stars Jack O'Connell, Hayley Squires and Brian Gleeson, who had his brother Domhnall Gleeson in the audience at the latest adaptation of Tennessee Williams's drama. Director Benedict Andrews raised a glass with other cast members Colm Meaney and Lisa Palfrey at the party, held at the National Cafe, following the opening night of the gritty play about a Southern family on a cotton plantation.
Around 300 guests here with complimentary Cava, wines, beers and lots of tasty food including
chicken skewers, salmon fish cakes and onion bhajis.
It was still lively when i departed as it was due to finish at 1am.

Sunday 23 July 2917.
MUNGO JERRY + ROBERT HOKUMS BLUES BAND live at Walpole Park,Ealing,London W5.
This was Day 2 of The Ealing Blues Festival.
A capacity of 3000 folks outdoors with food and drink stands.
Mungo Jerry had their main success in the early 1970s, with a changing line-up that has always been
fronted by Ray Dorset.
They had eight Top 40 UK hits including two numbers ones 'In The Summertime'(1970)
and 'Baby Jump' (1971).
I have seen them a couple of times before but they do not play London that often as they
seem to be more popular these days in countries including Germany and Holland.
Other 70s bands including Slade,Sweet,Smokie and others are still very popular in those countries.
Thankfully the main stage is in a big tent so folks are sheltered from any possible rain.
I caught 30 mins of the support set by ROBERT HOKUMS BLUES BAND.
Robert has been playing blues venues in West London for many years.
They played some decent blues based songs.
For Mungo Jerry we went down the front to the second row right of stage with a perfect view.
MUNGO JERRY arrived on stage at 9.10pm and played for 90 mins.
Singer Ray Dorset is now aged 71 but still has that big grin, big curly hair and sideburns.
Plenty of good vibes banter from Ray between songs.
Only 12 or 13 songs played as many were extended blues jam versions and Ray had some sound
problems with his amp that played up a bit during a few songs.
I had forgot they were more good-time blues band rather than part of the glam rock brigade.
They actually only played two of their big hits 'Lady Rose' and 'In The Summertime' in the set
which were great as they focused on good-times blues tracks.
An enjoyable show...
This was most of the setlist with a couple of songs missing...
Let's Roll Baby
Rock Me Mama
Touch The Sky
The Wind Is Blowing
One More Night Without You (from a 1985 album he recorded with Peter Green)
Lady Rose
Feels Like I'm In Love (Ray wrote this song and Tina Charles had a UK number one hit with it in 1980)
Everybody Wants To Know Why I Sing The Blues
I Just Wanna Make Love To You
In The Summertime
I'll Be A Hippy Til I Die

Sunday 23 July 2017.
Happy Birthday to David Essex who is 70 today.

Saturday 22 July 2017.
Happy Birthday to Don Henley from The Eagles who is 70 today.

Saturday 22 July 2017
A concert marking the 50th anniversary of the The Windsor Jazz, Pop, Ballads & Blues Festival of 1967.
Space rockers Hawkwind headline this outdoor event at Windsor Racecourse.
Original singer Dave Brock is still fronting them at age 75.
With support acts including....
The Crazy World of Arthur Brown
Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames
The Doors Alive
This gig was on my radar but the weather forecast said rain all day and i did not fancy standing all
day outside in crap fun at all...
A couple of friends went and text me to say only 400 to 500 tickets were sold for this outdoor gig
space that holds well over 5000.
The gig was not that well advertised.
It did rain all day and there was pretty much nowhere to sit down or any covered shelter.
Sounds like a bit of a damp squid event.

Thursday 20 July 2017...I went to two events tonight....
5pm to 6.30pm
CARLUCCIO'S - Christmas in July showcase - St Christopher's Place,London W1.
CARLUCCIO'S is a very popular authentic Italian restaurant chain.
This branch is located north of Bond Street tube station.
With 96 Carluccio's restaurants all over the UK, there should be one near you.
For Christmas they have beautifully packaged gifts and treats from Italian producers.
These are available from October in-store and online.
Different Panettone ,different chocolate treats, biscotti and many more.
All guests here enjoyed complimentary presecco and tasty CARLUCCIO'S canapés etc.
All guests got a nice goodie bag jar of chocolate treats.
www.carluccios.comVisit the Carrluccio's website here for more info.
7pm to 11.30pm
THE WILD WEST ENTERTAINMENT PARTY - Claridges Hotel,Brook Street,Mayfair,London W1.
Always nice to be in the ballroom of this famous five star luxury hotel.
Around 300 guests here from music,tv and film companies including Warner Music,
Sony Music and Netflix.
Around three quarters of the crowd are wearing some type of cowboy and cowgirl clothing.
Incredibly the ballroom has been transformed into a full scale Wild West Saloon.
Staff are dressed up as dancing girls and cowboys and gunfighters.
The saloon here was divided into two rooms which had the duel wooden doors that swung open.
Also here was a wide wooden boardwalk along the side which was a step higher than floor level.
Lots of saloon type table and chairs...and there was even a jail in the corner.
Also saloon games like Cactus Ring Toss ( hoopla ) and Bean Can Alley ( knocking the tin cans over).
Lots of wagons giving out non stop complimentary drinks & food all evening.
Laurent Perrier champers, different cocktails including EIGHT different whiskeys n bourbons,
Espresso Martinis, wines, beers and loads of different bowl food and canapés.
7.45pm there was line dancing on the floor.
8pm a band played can hour of cowboy related tunes including 'Walk The Line','Ring Of Fire',
'Nine To Five' and a nice rendition of 'Sweet Home Alabama'.
9pm the dj got folks on the dance floor until the end of the evening.
9.30pm the floor was cleared as we had a four man cowboy shoot out.
An excellent party.

Thursday 20 July 2017.
Album signed by John Lennon for his killer up for sale.
An album that John Lennon autographed for Mark Chapman, who went on to murder the former Beatle later that day, has gone on sale. Lennon signed the Double Fantasy record for his killer outside his New York home on 8 Dec 1980, in the same spot he was shot four times by Chapman that evening, and the record is expected to fetch around £1.15m.

Thursday 20 July 2017.
Hard to believe that we have another rock n roll suicide.
Chester Bennington, the lead singer of celebrated Nu-metal band Linkin Park has been found dead
at his home in California after apparently taking his own life.
The 41-year-old was discovered inside his residence in the Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles.
Incredibly i saw him singing with Linkin Park at Brixton Academy on 04 July...just two weeks ago...
At that show they played a tribute to Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who had died of a suicide
by hanging earlier this year.
Bennington is survived by his wife, Talinda Ann Bentley, and six children – three from his relationship with
Bentley and three from two prior relationships.
The singer struggled with drugs and alcohol for years. He had said in the past he had considered
committing suicide because he had been abused as a child by an older male.

Thursday 20 July 2017.
Happy Birthday to Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook who is 61 today.

Wednesday 19 July 2017...I went to four events today...
Many major stores & brands have showcase events in July for what they think
will be strong sellers in the pre-Christmas period...some are better events than others...
3.30pm to 4.30pm
HARRODS - Christmas in July showcase - Harrods,Knightsbridge,London SW3.
Always nice to be at this world famous store....which is full of tourists.
The gypsy women beggars outside the store like the tourists.
One young teenage Arab boy took a flower from one of them...she held out her hand for money...
he did not know what was happening...he ended up giving her a £10 note...
Harrods is one of the better displays of course with some great items here.
Complimentary Harrods champers and canapés for all guests.
www.harrods.comVisit the Harrods website here for more info.
5pm to 5.15pm
NARS - Christmas in July showcase - Unit London ,147 Wardour Street,London W1.
This was very girly as expected but it was on my way to the Liberty event so popped in quickly.
The press girls ask me. "Am i a make-up artist?"...err "No"....
Using a matte black background with thin white lettering, NARS created a look that is instantly
recognisable while remaining unobtrusive.
They had a fun photo section in the corner which was great as it was a full drum kit and Flying V
guitar with Marshall Amps in the background so i got a cool photo done.
www.narscosmetics.comVisit the Nars website here for more info.
5.30pm to 6pm
LIBERTY LONDON - Christmas in July showcase - Liberty,Regent Street,London W1.
A selection of clothes and gifts for Christmas.
Not as good a presentation as last year i thought.
Complimentary prosecco for all guests.
www.libertylondon.comVisit the Liberty London store website here for more info.
NICK HEYWARD + Gary Crowley (DJ) live at 229 Great Portland Street,London W1.
Nick Heyward with band play this mainly standing venue with a capacity of 620.
Special show to launch his first solo album in 18 years titled 'Woodland Echoes'.
The album is set for release on 4th August via Gladsome Hawk.
The singer-songwriter has successfully completed the pre-order Pledge Music campaign from which
fans ordered signed CD, deluxe mediabook CD and vinyl copies of the album.
Nick was the singer in Haircut 100 who had four UK Top 10 singles in 1981/1982.
I saw them FIVE times at Hammersmith Odeon in 1982 including a special NYE show.
In the 1990s Nick along with the likes of Sex Pistol Glen Matlock had a solo album deal with
Creation Records who of course had Oasis as their biggest selling act.
Dj Gary Crowley warmed the crowd up nicely with some classic tunes from the 1960s,1970s & 1980s.
NICK HEYWARD and his full band arrived on stage at 8.40pm and played for 1 hour 40 mins.
Nick now aged 56 but he still has that great smile and youthful looks.
Very friendly stage banter from Nick between songs.
Nick still has that distinctive guitar sound.
Great to hear those Haircut One Hundred hits again.
Several tracks from the new album were played tonight which were really good.
I have the album and after a couple of plays they really do stick in your mind.
My faves are recent single 'Baby Blue Sky ' and 'Perfect Sunday Sun'.
A rousing 'Fantastic Day' with everyone singing along was a great ending.
A very enjoyable show.

Tuesday 18 July 2017....6pm to 9.30pm...
BUNGA BUNGA - summer showcase party - 37 Battersea Bridge Road, London SW11.
I have been to this popular Italian themed venue a few times.
Bunga Bunga is a name for an area of Australia dating from 1852. By 2010 the phrase had gained popularity in Italy and the international press to refer to former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's sex parties, which caused a major political scandal in Italy.
Bunga Bunga, a bar and pizzeria was controversially painted in the colours of the Italian flag in June 2016.
Around 150 guests here and it got very lively around 8pm with folks dancing on the floor.
There is a dj and a singer performing cover versions from the 1970s and 1980s.
Every 30 mins the staff would starting banging saucepans and stuff and start dancing on the bar tops
for their 'Bunga Bunga' dance and chant.
There was a fun photo booth here.
Complimentary Italian wines,Peroni beers,Italian canapés and of course lots of Pizza.
A fun evening.
www.bungabunga-London.comVisit the Bunga Bunga website here.

Monday 17 July 2017...I went to three events tonight...

Monday 17 July 2017.
21 years ago today was one of the greatest gigs of all time.
THE SEX PISTOLS played the 2000 capacity Shepherds Bush Empire on 17 July 1996 on their re-union
'Filthy Lucre' world tour which were their first shows since 1978.
This gig was a month after their massive Finsbury Park show which was also mega.
I also them in Paris,Milan and The Phoenix Festival,Stratford,England on that tour.

Saturday 15 July 2017.
JAMES + THE SHERLOCKS live at Kew Gardens,Surrey.
I have seen James a dozen times since 1997 when i saw them at Shepherds Bush Empire.
I have seen them headline Wembley Arena and Brixton Academy in the past.
James have sold over 25 million albums worldwide.
James have had 19 Top 40 hit singles in the UK.
Kew the Music is a week-long festival of summer picnic concerts set within the stunning grounds of the
Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew....a capacity of 8,000 per night...James show is sold out...
We are lucky to have some stunning outdoor venues to watch a band...and this is one of them.
Incredibly this venue lets you bring in glass bottles so there are wine bottles and beer bottles everywhere.
THE SHERLOCKS arrived on stage at 7.30pm and played a 45 mins set.
Must be harder than ever to get noticed as an indie guitar band but The Sherlocks are getting there.
Following on from an endless line of Sheffield bands, The Sherlocks are an emerging young four piece
making crashing rock n roll that's made to be heard live.
Full of sprawling guitar lines and galloping drums they really are a band to keep an eye on.
They've already played over 1000 live shows and supported The Libertines on their 2016 UK arena tour.
They have a confident swagger as they punch their way through tight uptempo catchy tunes with great choruses.
Without doubt they will be headlining The Roundhouse or The Forum within the year and arenas will follow.
The only way for this band...IS UP.
Can't wait to see them play a headline show in front of their own fans.
Their setlist included...
Last Night
Nobody Knows
Live For The Moment
Chasing Shadows (check the great official live video for this single on YouTube)
The Sherlocks debut album 'Live For The Moment' is released 18 Aug 2017.
Look out for them if you are attending Reading/Leeds Festivals.
The Sherlocks will set out on their own UK headline tour in September.
This includes a London show at Heaven on 22 Sept 2017. out The Sherlocks website here for more info on live dates etc.
JAMES arrived on stage at 8.40pm and played for 1 hour 45 mins.
I get a great view a few rows from the stage on the left side.
Singer Tim Booth is still flailing himself into a hypnotic trance for most songs.
After a few songs he wanders into the crowd to sing a whole song from that area.
He then comes back to the pit and sings the next song standing on the pit rail held up by fans.
They played a nice mix of material from throughout their career with the biggest songs in the second half.
The loyal James fans are singing loudly to all of their songs.
Sadly they do not play their big hit 'Sit Down' tonight although all the crowd were
singing it on the tube after and a couple actually sat down in the train carriage floor as they sung it.
A great show.
Full setlist played tonight...

Saturday 15 July 2017.
Some very sad news to report about a punk rock chum that some of you may know.
John 'Ribs' Vick who was a massive Iggy Pop and Sex Pistols fan has passed away.
He committed suicide earlier in the week aged just 51.
He used to sell punk t-shirts at festivals all over the place including Camden Market.
A combination of manic depression and other things has sadly taken its toll.

Friday 14 July 2017.
MERCURY REV with The Royal Northern Sinfonia + LOWLY live at The Barbican,London.
After a seven year hiatus, Mercury Rev released the cinematic The Light In You in 2015, their first album for Bella Union. This performance revisits work from that album, and filters their other work through its soundworld, as they are joined by label founder and ex-Cocteau Twins member Simon Raymonde and Royal Northern Sinfonia as part of Bella Union’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
I have seen Mercury Rev a few times with the first time in 1998.
Most recently was in 2015 for a special lunchtime show for BBC Radio 6 at Maida Vale.
The 1998 release of the acclaimed 'Deserter's Songs ' made Mercury Rev unexpected pop stars. In the UK, NME magazine made 'Deserter's Songs' their Album of the Year.Donahue's earnest, high-pitched vocals and concentration on relatively concise, melodic songs gave the band's material an entirely new feel and much increased popularity (Deserter's Songs spawned three UK Top 40 singles).
The next album 'All Is Dream' was issued in 2001. It included their classic track "The Dark is Rising,"
which reached No. 16 in the UK Singles Chart.
LOWLY arrived on stage at 7.35pm and played for around 40 mins.
Considering the rather short lifetime of the Danish noise pop band Lowly (formed 2014) they already seem to be a band to watch. Their dreamy and wavy debut single ‘Daydreamers’ was acknowledged by The Guardian as a must buy.
They played a decent set with female vocals and keyboard based tracks that the crowd appreciated.
By the time Mercury Rev arrived on stage the venue was still only three quarters full.
Amazingly a dozen seats in the front row on the left are unclaimed so we move down there for a perfect view.
MERCURY REV with The Royal Northern Sinfonia arrived on stage and played for 95 mins.
Mercury Rev are an American indie band with psychedelic leanings.
Singer Jonathan Donahue is a cool front man with a great voice and friendly stage chat.
Mercury Rev songs are well suited to the lush sounds of the 20 piece orchestra.
Most songs finish with a crescendo of noise from the orchestra.
The best songs were in the second half that included a mega 'The Dark Is Rising'.
For this song Jonathan gave in to his desire to be a conductor and brought out his Star Wars
type sword to 'conduct the orchestra' for the last minute of the song.
An enjoyable show.
Full Mercury Rev setlist played tonight...
Central Park East
A Drop in Time

Thursday 13 July 2017...7pm to 11.15pm...
JAGUAR E-PACE - car launch party - Excel Exhibition Centre,East London.
Quite a trek to get here but the last Jaguar launch in Sept 2014 at Earls Court Arena (now demolished)
was a really good massive event where i got my picture taken with Brian Johnson ex AC/DC singer.
This was a full on 'money no object' launch event by this Iconic British car brand.
Around 800 guests here along with an army of serving staff and technicians.
Guests here included the UKs number male model David Gandy and GQ Editor Dylan Jones.
The event is being broadcast live around the world on their website.
At 8pm Radio 1 dj Nick Grimshaw unveiled the new car and then a curtain was pulled back as
we have a full quarter mile race track as other Jaguar cars and the new car race along.
They showed a video of stunt driver Terry Grant performing a great stunt in the car
which was recorded in the afternoon earlier.
Jaguar E-Pace revealed to take on small SUV rivals from BMW, Audi and Mercedes.
The basic model will sell for £28,500.
At 8.20pm PETE TONG & THE HERITAGE ORCHESTRA played a five song 25 mins set.
They magically appear from behind a curtain on wheels and the orchestra has 50 plus musicians.
Legendary dj has had a lot of success this year with this unique project as only a month
ago they headlined The Royal Albert Hall.
Their set is based on dance anthems of the 1990s and the highlight was final song 'Insomnia' by Faithless
which had a full laser show....short but sweet set...
There are around 100 virtual reality headsets in booths at the back featuring the new car.
Complimentary drinks and food all night long.
Veuve Clicquot champers all night plus two different cocktails, wines and beers.
Canapés before the presentation and full buffet including desserts after the presentation.
Goodie bag included a hard cover book about the car and a couple of Jo Malone products.
We departed at 11.15pm and the champers was still flowing.
Excellent event.

Wednesday 12 July 2017.
Blues legend Buddy Guy plays Hammersmith Apollo tomorrow - 13 July 2017.
I have seen Buddy Guy a couple of times but how about this for the first time in 1992.
Mick Jagger Allstar Blues Band feat Gary Moore , Ronnie Wood ,Buddy Guy , Jimmy Rodgers , Otis Rush .
Hammersmith Odeon , London 28 June 1992.
Mick Jagger looked fantastic .I blagged the aftershow party as well .one off show for charity .

Tuesday 11 July 2017... I went to two events tonight...
I have been lucky with sunny days for all my outdoor events this summer but the rain poured down today.
Thankfully this rain did not happen this past weekend for big outdoor gigs by U2 on Saturday (Twickenham)
and Tom Petty on Sunday (Hyde Park) that i attended.
7pm to 8.45pm
LOUIS VUITTON - Tambour Horizon Connected Watch - launch party - 17/20 New Bond Street,London W1.
Around 200 guests here in this stunning designer store where everything is immaculate.
Guests included Tom York,Tess Ward and Isaac Horizon.
Designer handbags at two grand a pop along with other expensive items.
The smartwatch industry hasn’t taken off the way we all hoped it would, but it seems luxury brands haven’t gotten the memo. Today Louis Vuitton announced the Tambour Horizon Connected Watch, coming in at the low, low price of £1905....yikes....
.....and the strap will cost an extra £200 plus as there are 30 different ones to choose from.
There is a dj (Hugo Heathcote) playing tunes in the background and there is a fun photo booth.
Complimentary Ruinart champers and canapés for all guests.
9pm to 10.45pm
Cafe NESPRESSO - launch party - 32 Broadwick Street,Soho,London W1.
Capsule coffee brand Nespresso opens a second café in Soho as part of a “big plans” for expansion across the UK.
The Broadwick Street site follows the success of its City branch, which serves up cocktails and coffee-inspired dishes alongside its drinks.
Guests included Donna Air,Lisa Snowdon,Izzy Bizu,Samantha Banks ,Louise Thompson and Rick Edwards.
Also here was Tess Ward who was at the Louis Vuitton event earlier.
Complimentary Veuve Clicquot champers,Espresso Martinis, wines and canapés for all guests.
All guests got a goodie bag that included a £10 voucher to use at this Cafe Nespresso.

Tuesday 11 July 2017.
Promoters AEG confirm all six Hyde Park shows were sold out.
While The Killers provided the only quickfire sell-out, all six concerts were filled to 65,000-capacity
by showtime - the first BST to achieve such a feat. Five years in after taking over from Live Nation,
new organisers AEG look to have found their winning formula.

Tuesday 11 July 2017.
A new study from UK Music revealed that live music audience's are growing all the time.
The study has revealed that attendances at UK gigs and festivals in the UK reached 30.9 million in 2016.
The findings, which were collated by UK Music as part of their ‘Wish You Were Here’ study, also point to a 12% increase in live music audience figures last year, which contributed £4 billion to the country’s economy.

Monday 10 July 2017.
Time for an evening in for me after 13 nights out on the trot.
This time of year in London is always really great for quality indoor and outdoor gigs / events.

Sunday 09 July 2017.
Tom Petty plays his biggest ever UK headline show.
This is Tom Petty's only show in Europe which is in the middle of his North American tour.
The main support act is Stevie Nicks who is also playing her only show in Europe.
I saw her a few years at this same venue supporting Rod Stewart.
I saw both of Tom Petty's last London shows in June 2012 at The Royal Albert Hall.
They were his first UK shows for 13 years.
I first saw Tom Petty live in 1977 at Hammersmith Odeon when he was a support act.
Back to Hyde Park for another massive show...this was my third of the six BST shows here.
Regards big outdoor gigs i think i prefer stadiums to parks like this.
I caught 30 mins of THE LUMINEERS set...they are American and play folk rock.
The Lumineers have released two albums and both have sold well.
Their second album, ' Cleopatra ' was released in 2016 and debuted at #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200,
and also Number One on the Canadian and British album charts.
Their sound is a bit like Mumford & Sons...not very rock n roll but decent enough..
STEVIE NICKS arrives on stage at 6.10pm and plays for 85 mins which is quite long as she is more
a special guest than a support act.
Her band feature her old chum Waddy Wachtel on guitar.
In 1973, he played with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks on the album 'Buckingham Nicks'
(credited as 'Waddy', no surname), and on tour.
Stevie arrives on stage all dressed in black with fingerless black gloves and during the show she
does a few of her trademark twirls when she dances.
A couple of her own tracks were a bit average but those Fleetwood Mac gems went down a treat.
Encore of 'Rhiannon' and 'Landslide' were mega.
An enjoyable set.
Full setlist played tonight...
Gold and Braid
If Anyone Falls
Gypsy (Fleetwood Mac song)
Outside the Rain
Dreams (Fleetwood Mac song)

Stand Back
Crying in the Night (Buckingham Nicks song)

TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS arrive on stage around 8.15pm and play for two hours.
Tom arrives on stage and his laid back Southern drawl is still there for all to hear.
His band feature original members and newer members...
Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Ron Blair, Scott Thurston, Steve Ferrone.
Tom played all his big tracks and some not so well known.
An early gem was 'Mary Jane's Last Dance' which was superb.
Also top notch were 'I Won't Back Down' and 'Free Fallin'.
Petty seemed genuinely thrilled by the response (and the size) of the crowd relishing the call and response during “Learning To Fly” and inviting Stevie Nicks to join him for a duet on “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around”, a solo hit for her in 1981 that was penned by Petty and Heartbreakers lead guitarist Mike Campbell.
The big screen mixed great images with live footage.
The show was never going to have such a big impact like the U2 production the night before
but in the Tom Petty way of doing things it was still great.
Full setlist played tonight...
Rockin' Around (With You)

You Don't Know How It Feels (Tom Petty song)

Saturday 08 July 2017.
U2 + NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS live at Twickenham Stadium.
U2 play the first of two massive shows at the home of English rugby.
These are their only UK shows on their European Tour.
With support from Noel Gallagher who i have seen many times solo and with Oasis.
I have seen U2 over 15 times since 1980 when they were support act to The Talking Heads at Hammersmith Odeon.
On their last UK tour in 2015 i went to three of the 02 Arena shows which were mega.
U2 are playing 'The Joshua Tree' album in full for the first time ever on this tour for its 30th anniversary.
The heart of the show will be the eleven songs from 'The Joshua Tree' album.
They will be performing in front of a gigantic screen that covers the entire area behind the band.
I saw U2 three times on the original Joshua Tree tour in 1987 at Wembley Arena,Wembley Stadium.
and Cardiff Arms Park.
Pretty amazing how U2 have stayed at stadium level the past 30 years.
A massive crowd here as the venue looks full.
I am floor standing and get a good view front left of stage.
NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS arrive on stage at 6.30pm and play for 50 mins.
Noel and his band look a bit lost as they play in front of the massive U2 big screen production.
They are given a section of the screen on the right which is around a quarter of the size of the entire screen.
Noel wisely plays a few Oasis classics that get everyone singing as they are perfect for stadiums.
A good set.
Full setlist played tonight...
Everybody's on the Run
Lock All the Doors
In the Heat of the Moment
Champagne Supernova (Oasis cover)
You Know We Can't Go Back
Half the World Away (Oasis cover)

AKA... What a Life!
I get a couple of Joshua Tree celebration beakers that folks got when buying draught beer.
At 8.15pm U2 intro music begins...the perfect 'Whole Of The Moon'..and everyone sings along...
U2 arrive on stage at 8.20pm and play for two hours 15 mins.
A great entrance as one by one the band head down the walkway to play the first few songs
away from the main stage.
As usual Bono knows exactly what to say to the audience throughout the show.
Pretty incredible the amount of superb songs U2 played tonight.
Openers 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' and 'New Year's Day' were great.
The monster big screen mixed classic images with live footage.
It reminded me of the monster screen they use at the Hyde Park shows...but better.
The screen is set up front of stage and wraps around the drums.
At 9.30pm it started getting darker and the big screen and lights fully kicked in.
Stunning encores included 'Elevation' and 'Vertigo'.
Bono and Noel Gallagher have developed a bit of of bromance recently so it was great to see Noel
came back on stage for the last song to sing a great version of 'Dont Look Back In Anger'.
Needless to say one of the best gigs of the year for sure.
Intro track - The Whole of the Moon (The Waterboys song)

As expected quite a few folks here that i know.
Those here included Gaye Advert, Jordan , Gaz Mayall
and Steve English (Roundhouse and punk bands security in the 70s).
FECKIN LATCHICOS were on stage for around 30 mins.
They played a good set of classic punk covers.
GLEN MATLOCK and his band were on stage for around 65 mins.
As usual they play a set mixing tracks by Sex Pistols,The Rich Kids, covers and solo material.
No messing about as the pace was uptempo from the start and stayed that way.
Glen got the crowd singing and dancing along and drummer Chris Musto sweated his nuts off.
Some nifty guitar licks from Neal X.
The main set finishes with the anthemic 'Pretty Vacant' which still sounds as mega as ever.
A great show.

They have a big screen and full light show as it is dark when they start their show.
