Saturday 17 February 2024.

Saturday 17 February 2024. REND COLLECTIVE live at Shepherds Bush Empire. Christian folk rock band from Northern Ireland. They have released several albums. They have also had success in the USA Christian charts. This show is the last night of their tour. I didn't go to their show at this venue in 2018. In 1987 i saw Christian hair metal band STRYPER headline Hammersmith Odeon. They threw out bibles with their yellow and black logo on the cover. I still have one . ---------- The venue is totally rammed sold out. A very polite Christian crowd here , lots of families. I see a couple of JESUS IS KING t-shirts. REND COLLECTIVE are on stage for 1 hour 40 mins over two sets of 50 mins. Five members on stage ,with the drummer having a few huge tom toms on the side of his kit. A dozen vertical lighting poles are dotted around the stage. Their sound is very in the mould of Mumford & Sons. A mix of quiet and louder rousing songs, with the crowd singing the Christian lyrics at the top of their voices.. Sometimes the songs veered into a type of Irish jig. There were two or three prayers between songs. The front man had jokey clean moments. Confetti cannons used during the encore. An enjoyable show. -------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- Friday 16 February 2024....I went to two events tonight... 6.30pm to 7.20pm. KRISPY KREME - new store press launch - 27 Oxford Street, London W1. Very popular donut brand opens another store. As it is a small space, this was the second of two days launch. There are balloons all around the entrance to the store. They even have two security, as they expect to be busy. We have a couple of complimentary glazed donuts heated up , along with vodka cocktails and beers. There is also a DJ playing tunes. Goody bag to take away was a big box of any 12 donuts. The nearest tube station is Tottenham Court Road. Opposite Primark on Oxford Street (ex Virgin Megastore). then 7.30pm to 10.30pm. NOK NOK -presentation - at Chateau Denmark, Denmark Street, London WC2. My first time at this newish cool boutique hotel. Today was the first day of London Fashion Week . Inspired by the neighbourhood’s architectural and cultural heritage, Chateau Denmark’s hotel rooms and apartments are set across 16 buildings, along London’s one hundred yard Denmark Street. Our award winning bar – Thirteen, brings a baroque and gothic charm to the Soho neighbourhood. Their 55 rooms and apartments are set along a street where the Sex Pistols once lived, the Rolling Stones recorded and where Bowie and Hendrix hung out - if the walls here could speak, you'd be hooked. NOK NOK are presenting their Never Ending Sin A/W 24 Collection. The presentation is one of their stunning hotel suites. Their motto is Peace, Love , Rock n Roll. The collection is a great mix of 70's classic rock and punk , that would suit any rock star on stage. Musicians who wear his clothes include Marky Ramone. The hotel suite upstairs (again with a huge four poster bed ) , was where the bar was as as 70 or 80 folks enjoyed complimentary Deacon Whisky cocktails and Tequila cocktails. We managed to find a huge sofa to sit on , most of the evening. At 9pm a guy and his electric guitar played a couple of Jimi Hendrix covers. The DJ was playing classic rock tunes all night. Never thought I would be at a London Fashion Week event and gear Ratt and Warrant being played. All guests got a tote bag with a few items inside including Riot Connex vapes and tins of Gin cocktails. A really good event , much better than expected.
