Monday 11 March 2024...6.45pm to 10.15pm... THE MURPHIA LIST - Sea Containers, London SE1. In the run-up to St Patrick's Day, Hot Dinners website proudly present their 10th annual Murphia List, in association with Bord Bia, showcasing the Irish talent contributing to the creativity of London's food and drink scene. This hotel and venue is situated next to The OXO building. Stunning views of the River Thames at night. Around 150 guests here, including many on the list like chef Richard Corrigan, The Savoy Hotel head butler Sean Davoren and the team from that great pub The Devonshire Arms in Denman Street, London W1. At 7.15pm The MURPHIA LIST was announced in the big screens , and kept repeating throughout the evening. Irish music playing in the background , inc Thin Lizzy. Lots of complimentary Irish food & drinks, inc bowl food , canapes , Donegal oysters and desserts . The 96th OSCARS - private screening - Dorchester Hotel , Mayfair , London W1. Always nice to be at this famous five star hotel. Around 200 folks here watching the awards on the big screens in the various rooms used here tonight. Comfy sofas and chairs for all. It is the same ITV showing , as if you were at home. The awards were on from 11pm to 2.30am. Very entertaining and as expected Oppenheimer won Best Film and Best Director. We have complimentary Espresso Martinis , wines , beers , canapes and Krispy Kreme donuts. At 1.45 am the bacon rolls and Bloody Mary's came out. An excellent event. ------------------------------ ------------------------------ Very sad news that legendary live music promoter and venue owner VINCE POWER has passed away aged 76. He started off with The Mean Fiddler, Harlesden in the 1980s and in the 1990s he owned several London venues. In the early 1990s Vince Power gave me a gold card for several years until 2000 where I got guest list for all his venues and outdoor events which included The Sex Pistols in Finsbury Park in 1996.
