Wednesday 20 March 2024. THE WHO with orchestra + SQUEEZE live at The Royal Albert Hall. This was show number three of the seven TCT RAH shows . I am back to see this great double bill for the second time. I am again 9pm position stalls swivel seating. Great to be at a gig again with mainly older folks like myself. The big screen is still there for both bands tonight SQUEEZE again on stage at 7.10pm for their 60 mins set. They really do live up to the title of ' special guests' as they whizzed through their excellent same set of songs as Monday that have great lyrics....finishing with a mega 'Cool For Cats'. THE WHO were on stage at 8.55pm for two hours. Again ,split into three sets... Band and orchestra Band only Band and orchestra Watching Roger Daltrey giving it 100% at the age of 80 is pretty incredible to watch. We do have a slight change to setlist as opening song ' I Can't Explain' is dropped , and replaced by ' The Punk and the Godfather' with EDDIE VEDDER and Roger sharing the vocals. Less jokey jibes from Pete Townshend tonight . Another totally excellent show from these rock legends. THE WHO full setlist tonight... WITH BAND AND ORCHESTRA Overture 1921 Amazing Journey Sparks The Acid Queen Pinball Wizard We're Not Gonna Take It Who Are You BAND ONLY The Kids Are Alright Substitute My Generation Cry If You Want You Better You Bet Won't Get Fooled Again Behind Blue Eyes (acoustic with strings) WITH BAND AND ORCHESTRA The Punk and the Godfather (with Eddie Vedder) I'm One 5.15 The Rock Love, Reign O'er Me ( followed by band introductions) Baba O'Riley At the end of the show I go for a wander upstairs to the Level 1 area and boxes and I hump into and say a quick hello to legendary live music booking agent Rod MacSween ( The Who , Pearl Jam and many more) , and with him is The Who long time manager Bill Curbishley. EDDIE VEDDER comes out of their box with his personal security , and I blurt out " see you at Tottenham" , and his mind does a double check then remembers it is that huge stadium that Pearl Jam are playing on 29 June....and we fist pump each other.
