THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN live at The Roundhouse.
Scottish indie-rock legends play the first of two shows at this venue on their UK & European 40th anniversary tour .The Reid brothers will be promoting their 8th studio album ' Glasgow Eyes'. I saw them headline Brixton Academy in 1992, when the support band were......BLUR.
----------
The venue is only three quarters full tonight and my security chums said that the Saturday show is the same.
AIRCOOLED arrived on stage at 7.50pm for their 35 mins set
Some hypnotic rhythmic keyboard based tracks.
Five members in the band - 3 x f and 2 X m.
Aircooled released their second album, Eat The Gold on February 16th 2024 on the Music's Not Dead label.
JAMC on stage at 9pm for their 1 hour 45 mins set.
Hard to believe they are still going after 40 years considering all the arguments , fights , short sets and chaos that followed them back in their initial years.
Lots of backlighting and their usual fuzzy guitar sound.
Not much chat between songs apart from giving a shout out to an American fan who is in the front row every night on their European Tour and got attacked at their Edinburgh gig two days before , and got ejected along with the couple that started on him.
Highlights for me included ' Some Candy Talking' and ' Just Like Honey '. A good show.

Thursday 28 March 2024.
GIPSY KINGS live at The Royal Albert Hall.
Known for melding traditional flamenco styles with Western pop and Latin rhythm, Grammy award winning band Gipsy Kings featuring Nicolas Reyes.
They first captured the world’s imagination in 1987 with a self-titled album that became a genuine phenomenon, certified gold and platinum around the globe.
------------
You kinda forget how popular The Gipsy Kings are , as this iconic venue is totally rammed sold out tonight, even though seats near the stage are £100 each.
SHUTTERDOG arrived on stage at 7.30pm for his 30 mins.
Sounds like a band name , but it's him and his acoustic guitar.
He played a nice cover of ' Jealous Guy'.
GIPSY KINGS arrived on stage at 8.30pm for 1 hour 40 mins.
The Gipsy Kings have succeeded with a radically new approach to flamenco. They incorporated additional rhythms, most notably rumba and samba. Eight musicians on stage.
When all five guitarists are strumming frantically infectious flamenco style, it produces a unique wall of sound that is particularly effective.
Nino Baliardo took four or five breathtakingly fast solos in a jazz-influenced flamenco style that were real highlights.
The crowd were clapping and up dancing for the two big tracks at the end of the main set , ' Bamboleo' and ' Volare' and the final encore was a solo version of ' My Way' .A good show.
