Thursday 09 May 2024...I went to two events tonight.. 6pm to 7pm.. TOUILS - private view - Maddox Gallery, 12 Berkeley Street , Mayfair , London W1. Around 100 smart art folks at this cool gallery. Touils: I arrived in France from Morocco aged 11 or 12. It was a hard time for me, and I was searching for ways to escape my reality. This is when I first began painting, and it grew from there. When I paint, I think about my family and my culture, which I miss very much. When I was young, I received so much love, and that was taken away from me very suddenly. Today, I paint what I seek: love, positive energy and light. I want the audience to be transported when they look at my paintings, the same way I am when I am creating them. Complimentary Nyetimber English sparking wines. then... 7.15pm to 9pm THE BEACH BOYS book and photo exhibition launch party at Iconic Images Gallery, 16 Waterloo Place, St James's, London SW1. The Beach Boys have a book out via Genesis Publishing called ' The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys'....and images from the book are on the walls . Beach Boys members MIKE LOVE and BRUCE JOHNSON are here , and interviewed by DYLAN JONES. A nice surprise to see BILL WYMAN here , who at age 87 looks a bit frail with a walking stick. He joined in by talking about when The Stones toured with The Beach Boys etc.... Complimentary wines and beers for guests. ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- Wednesday 09 May 2024 Launch party - 6.45pm to 9.15pm... Around 150 guests for this buzzy event. The colourful digital images on the three main walls look totally stunning. It feels more like a nightclub than a gallery space, as the DJ plays loud beats in the darkened room. As usual, the complimentary drinks were spirits n mixers , so i had a few JD n cokes, along with wines and beers.
