28 Sept 2011.I went to two good events tonight.6.45pm to 8.30pm i was at the launch of Dr Martin Polleys latest book 'The British Olympics: Britain’s Olympic Heritage 1612 - 2012'. at The German Gymnasium,26 Pancras Road,London NW1.Lovely historic venue that dates back nearly 150 years and still retains many original features.
The book charts the fascinating story of Britain’s relationship with the Games. As London prepares to be the first city in the world to stage the modern Olympic games for the third time, Polley reveals that the 2012 Games will also mark the 400th anniversary of the first ever Olympic Games to be staged on Brithish Soil.
The author and other speakers gave an informative and entertaining set of speeches to match the film slides.

then on the tube to see The Wombats live at Brixton Academy,London.Boy was i looking forward to this gig.The Wombats were one of those indie pop bands that had two or three great songs and then they bring out their stunning second album "This Modern Glitch" which is fast becoming one of my fave albums of the year.Superbly produced and full of catchy indie pop with great singalong lyrics.The track "Techno Fan" is my song of the past summer.I cannot stop singing it.
The sold out out crowd were dancing non stop for the entire 90 mins show.The set featured the best tracks from the two albums inc "Our Perfect Disease","Jump Into The Fog", a brilliant "Techno Fan" complete with lasers.
"Last Night I Dreamt","1996","Moving To New York",
"Tokyo" and great encores of "Anti-D","Walking Disasters" and Lets Dance To Joy Division".I loved it.
