Thursday 05 September 2024.

Thursday 05 September 2024. I went to two events tonight. 5.30pm to 7.15pm SHOWCASE - 17 Dickens Yard , Ealing , London W5. September is the main month for venues showcasing to get bookings for the pre Christmas period. Part of Darwin & Wallace’s ever-growing collection of neighbourhood bars, No 17 combines two bars and a first-floor terrace. Cosy interiors feature generous lounge seating and large bleached oak sharing tables. Outside meanwhile boasts a large outdoor courtyard on the ground floor filled with foliage, and a first-floor wraparound terrace which overlooks the Dickens Yard development. Open all day, No 17 serves up coffee in the mornings, before making way for cocktails at night, including the likes of a Honey Martini and a Plum Collins. From the food menu, guests can enjoy a seasonally changing offering. They have a happy hour 4pm to 8pm. The showcase is upstairs for around 30 guests. Complimentary Raspberry Spritz, prosecco, wines , beers , cheeseburgers and canapes. then 8pm to 9.15pm PRIVATE VIEW - Maddox Gallery , 12 Berkeley Street , Mayfair, London W1. Maddox Gallery is proud to present Dreamstate, the first solo exhibition in the UK of American artist, Jessica Brilli. Fuelled by a deep feeling of nostalgia, Jessica Brilli’s practice is a glossy coating on the American dream. Populated by swimming pools, modernist buildings, nondescript characters and mighty Cadillacs, this series of 24 works follows a melancholic journey through the seasons of American retro life from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Around 100 smartly dressed guests here. Complimentary Nyetimber English Sparkling Wines. ----------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- Tuesday 03 September 2024. G FLIP live at Shepherds Bush Empire. G FLIP plays the first of two shows at Shepherds Bush Empire , after the original show sold out. A very odd stage name that is an abbreviation of her full name . 30 year old female Australian musician G Flip is hitting the road with their ‘Drummer Tour Continued’ celebrating their 2023 ' Drummer'. The album hit number one in the Australian charts. G Flip is becoming the role model for her fans that they never had growing up, making the kind of high powered rock and pop music that could only come from the heart and mind of a drummer. G Flip married an American actress in 2022. ------------- Sooo many female couples in the house tonight. Must be 90 per cent female couples here tonight. G Flip is certainly seen by them as a Gay Icon. There are more girls going in the men's toilets than actual males. MERCER HENDERSON was on at 8pm for 40 mins. Mercer is a female singer from San Francisco. She was backed by a female guitarist. Mercer has an EP out on Friday 06 Sept. G FLIP was on at 9.10pm for 80 mins. G Flip has loads of mini tattoos all over her body. She was backed by a three piece band. Nice to see a massive drum kit dominate the stage. G Flip plays drums , flying v guitar and keyboards during different parts of the show, and indeed the opening five minutes is a full drum solo from her. Half way through she would perform another drum solo, and the rest of the set was by a male drummer. G Flip sung one song from up in Level 2, which sent her fans into a frenzy. She has lots of friendly chat to say to the crowd. Her fans are singing loudly along to every song , to create a fantastic live atmosphere . G Flip has plenty of energy for all the show. Keen to show off her toned stomach in sports bra . It got very lively at the end of the main set for ' Be Your Man' , ' Drink Too Much ' and ' Gay 4 Me'. A good cover of Taylor Swift ' Cruel Summer' and her big track ' The Worst Person Alive' was great. A really good show, much better than expected.
