Thursday 10 October 2024...6.15pm to 9.15pm... L'OSCAR LONDON - showcase - 2/6 Southampton Row, Bloomsbury , London WC1. Really nice to be at this very plush five star hotel , that's near to Holborn tube station. They are showcasing their various rooms and spaces. The hotel has kept many of the features from when it was a church. Over 100 guests are in their very impressive octagonal chapel with glass topped dome that dates back to 1903. There is a female trio of violinists playing covers. They played two sets of 20 mins each. Complimentary Gusbourne English Sparkling Wine, other wines , beers , mulled wine and top notch tasty food , including mini lobster rolls and desserts . At 8.30pm there was a business card draw. First prize - an overnight stay for two in the hotel. Second prize - dinner for two at the hotel. Third prize - lunch for two at the hotel. Sadly, I did not win anything. There was a goodie bag for all guests on departure. ----------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- Tuesday 08 October 2024. I went to three events tonight. 5pm to 6.45pm. BOOM BATTLE BAR - showcase - 88 Oxford Street , London W1. The venue is nearby to the iconic 100 Club. A small entrance, leads down to a massive space. It is lively as there is a DJ playing and a female sax playing, as the showcase guests mix with the normal paying guests...must be over 200 folks here. Battle it out with a selection of games including Augmented Reality Axe Throwing, Crazier Golf, Augmented Reality Darts, Beer Pong, Shuffleboard , Pool, Karaoke , Basketball Hoops and more . Ideal for that Christmas office party and small groups. Complimentary Terry's Orange Chocolate Espresso Martins , wines, beers ,Guinness and hot food. then 7pm to 8pm. PHILLIPS GALLERY - Freeze Art Week Party - 30 Berkeley Square, Mayfair, London W1. Around 200 guests at this big gallery space. A couple of Andy Warhol portraits on sale of Charles and Diana on sale for a million quid each. Complimentary Espresso Martins and wines for all. then 8.05pm to 9.15pm. ASPERY - Freeze Art Party - 1st Floor, 34-36 Bruton Street , Mayfair, London W1. Around 100 guests in their upstairs art space . We have a special guest being interviewed. Susan Kare (now aged 70) is an American artist and graphic designer, who contributed interface elements and typefaces for the first Apple Macintosh personal computer from 1983 to 1986. She was employee #10 and creative director at NeXT, the company formed by Steve Jobs after he left Apple in 1985. She has worked as a design consultant to Microsoft, IBM, Sony Pictures, Facebook, and Pinterest. As of 2023 Kare has been an employee of Niantic Labs. As a pioneer of pixel art and of the graphical computer interface, she has been celebrated as one of the most significant designers of modern technology. Taittinger champers and canapes for all the guests.
