DZEM live at Shepherds Bush Empire
Polish blues-rock band Dżem are back with their new vocalist Sebastian Riedel, son of original vocalist Ryszard Riedel. They began releasing music in the mid-1980s and are known for their blend of blues, southern rock and hard rock.
-------
Tonight was not sold out , but all levels are pretty full.
The mainly Polish crowd are creating a lively atmosphere by drinking the bars at the venue dry.
40 PROCENT arrived on stage at 6pm for their 60 mins set....6 musicians in the band.
The crowd seemed to know some of their songs.
DZEM arrived on at stage at 7.30pm for their two hour set.....6 musicians in the band.
They had a nice laid back blues rock bunch of songs.
Some sounded a bit Joe Cocker in parts.
It all ticked along nicely.
The crowd loved it and sang along loudly.

HUE & CRY live at Shepherds Bush Empire.
Scottish brothers are playing a 40th anniversary tour.
They are best known for their classic 1987 hit ' Labour of Love' .
I have seen them several times before, including supporting Madonna at Wembley Stadium in 1987, and headlining Hammersmith Odeon in 1989 and 1990.
---------
It is stalls seated for this middle aged crowd.
Maybe 700 or 800 here tonight
Lots of Scottish voices heard in the crowd.
RACHAEL PAGE arrived on stage at 8pm for her 30 mins set. Singer-songwriter who played guitar and keyboards , did a good set.
HUE & CRY arrived on stage at 9pm and played for 1 hour 40 mins.
Six musicians on stage tonight.
It’s not enough for 1980s acts to just play live now – the audience wants stories, and these boys have plenty of good ones. But first Pat – in excellent voice throughout – laid down the gig’s house rules: 1. Things will only progress at a stately pace. 2. If you DON’T film our best songs and post them on twitter, you’re out.
Great to hear the hits 'Ordinary Angels' , ' Looking for Linda' and the still.mega 'Labour of Love' , along with a few nice cover versions....a good show....
