Sunday 24 November 2024.

Sunday 24 November 2024. THE HIGH KINGS live at Shepherds Bush Empire. I saw them at this venue last year, which was to celebrate their 15th anniversary . The High Kings is an Irish folk group formed in Dublin in 2008. The band consists of Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Darren Holden, and Paul O'Brien. A few of their albums have gone Top 10, back home in Ireland. Expect a set featuring their own songs and some well known Irish covers...and a couple of Rebel songs. They are in their 'Step It Out' 2024/2025 World Tour. ------------ Level 3 is closed tonight, but all other levels look full. As expected it's a London Irish crowd. THE HIGH KINGS arrived on stage at 8.10pm and played for 1 hour 55 mins. The four members are lined up across the front of the stage. Guitar, accordion, banjo , hand drum etc. There is no drum kit or bass . Lots of well known Irish songs in the setlist, that the crowd sing along to. Some songs are laid back , and some songs are lively , with the crowd up and dancing. All four members take it in turn for lead vocals, and lots of nice harmonies. My parents are Irish, so it was nice to hear those Irish voices. An enjoyable show. At the end of their set, the band said they were doing a signing in the rear stalls at the end of the show. Full HIGH KINGS setliat played tonight.... THE CLONE ROSES + OASISH + THE SMITHS LTD live at Shepherds Bush Empire. I saw this great three band package of Mancunian music legends tribute bands at this venue last year and in 2022. I have seen the real Stone Roses, Oasis and Morrissey several times each but never got round to seeing The Smiths. ----------- Level 3 is 75% unsold but the other levels are full, so must be an impressive 1500 tickets sold tonight. Lots of folks under the age of 30 here tonight. It was a very lively drinking crowd evening , just like when i saw this package before. Some folks hate the idea of going to see tribute bands, but some tributes are top notch. There really are plenty of good tribute bands playing out there. So many great songs played by the three acts tonight, made it a top night. The three singers do look a bit like the real artist. THE SMITHS LTD arrived on stage at 7pm and played for 45 mins. The singer looks, acts and sings a bit like Morrissey , and they play all those gems like "Panic", "How Soon Is Now" and "What Difference Does It Make". OASISH arrived on stage at 8.15pm and played for 55 mins. A greatest hits set , that had all the crowd singing along loudly. Full OASISH setlist played tonight... Rock 'n' Roll Star , Some Might Say , Cigarettes & Alcohol, Little by Little, Half the World Away , Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Morning Glory , Don't Look Back in Anger , Wonderwall , Live Forever, Champagne Supernova . THE CLONE ROSES arrived on stage at 9.35pm and played for 85 mins. Compared to Oasis, you kinda forget how many great songs that The Stone Roses have. The crowd soon got much livelier than the other bands as the dance rock of The Stone Roses got the crowd dancing and moshing wildly by the last few songs came along. Full CLONE ROSES setlist played tonight...
