Friday 29 November 2024. EMBRACE live at Shepherds Bush Empire. Embrace have had three number one albums in the UK , and six Top 10 hit singles in the UK. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2004 album 'Out of Nothing' which sold over 600, 000 copies. I have seen them a few times before , including when they headlined The Royal Albert Hall in 2002. Tonight's show sold out in advance. After tonight's show, Embrace singer Danny McNamara goes on a ten date UK tour talking about his 30 years in Embrace. ------------- Older crowd here, who remember Embrace from their heyday. Five musicians on stage, including keyboards They played their radio friendly indie rock tunes. Around 20 years ago there were a host of bands all in the same vein..Embrace/Starsailor/Coldplay/Keane/Travis/The Feeling . Some of the mid paced album tracks were a bit samey, but nice to hear the hits. A good show. Full EMBRACE set list played tonight.... BIG COUNTRY live at Shepherds Bush Empire. I have seen them several times since the 1980s , when they were regulars at Hammersmith Odeon. Celebrating 40 years of their ' Steeltown ' album. Steeltown was the second studio album by Big Country released in 1984. Regarded by many as a classic, the multi-million selling record went straight to the Number 1 slot in the UK album charts. Original member STUART ADAMSON sadly died in 2001. Big Country will be performing songs from the album as well as the classic hits and live favourites including “Fields of Fire”, “In A Big Country”, “Chance”, “Wonderland” and many more. Big Country will be supported by MIKE PETERS. Mike Peters is known primarily as frontman of the internationally acclaimed Welsh band The Alarm. Achieving over 15 Top 40 UK singles and over 5 million album sales worldwide along the way, Mike Peters’ musical journey has seen him sing with some of history’s greatest performers such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, & Bono. I have also seen him several times before. The Alarm had loads of great anthemic songs. A great double bill to my liking. ------------ Levels 2 and 3 are closed tonight as unsold , so maybe just 700 or 800 in the venue tonight. Mainly a crowd of folks in their 50s and 60s here. The house PA is playing non stop classics from the 1980s. MIKE PETERS arrived on stage at 8pm for his 45 mins set. Mike is a true Welsh music legend , who is still touring despite struggling with blood cancer . Both acts tonight have all their equipment front of stage. Just him and his guitar and a kick bass drum , as he has backing tapes for the band sounds. Nine songs played including many great Alarm classics . He has many of his own fans down the front. A great show. Full MIKE PETERS setliat played tonight...
