Monday 28 April 2025. GREGORY PORTER live at The Royal Albert Hall. Gregory Porter plays the first of four RAH shows on his UK tour. Gregory Porter, the internationally acclaimed jazz and soul singer, is set to return to the Hall in 2025. Gregory has become one of the most successful jazz vocalists of his generation. With a voice that has been described as "liquid gold," Gregory Porter has captivated audiences around the world with his soulful baritone and deeply emotional performances. His unique blend of jazz, soul, and gospel has earned him critical acclaim and huge global success. I have seen him three times before , with the first tine live at The Saatchi Gallery , Chelsea in 2014. --------- The venue looks very full tonight. Pretty much a middle-aged crowd. JO HARROP arrives on stage at 7.30pm for her 25 mins set. She is backed by a piano player. Jo is a County Durham-born vocalist who first cut her teeth as a session singer, before releasing her own jazz material. A nice voice , and she was an ideal support for Gregory . GREGORY PORTER arrived on stage at 8.30pm for his 1 hour 40 mins set . He is backed by nine musicians , including double bass, a three man brass section and two female backing singers. They all have solo spots throughout the show. Gregory's voice and the overall sound is superb. Lots of chat from Gregory between the songs. The highlights were 'Liquid Spirit ' and ' Hey Laura'. MR PORTER STEAKHOUSE BAR & LOUNGE - preview - Hilton Hotel , 22 Park Lane , Mayfair , London W1. This is the fourth MR PORTER site, with locations in Amsterdam, Barcelona and pop-up in Ibiza. Mr Porter have taken over where Trader Vic's was. It has been totally refurbished to a very high chic standard . Nice cool uplighting and there is a mirrored ceiling. It is open until 2am , so has a club vibe after 11pm . We have plenty of top notch complimentary food and drinks. A five course sharing meal including lobster and rib eye steak with hand cooked chips and sides, ending with dessert. We had one each of the five cocktails on offer , and a glass of red wine. We are in a famous five star hotel so prices ain't cheap. Most of the cocktails are £20 a pop. Very nice for that special occasion.
