News and Reviews: 27th November 2011
26 Nov 2011.Rickie Lee Jones live at The Royal Festival Hall,London. One of those American singer songwriters who had a lot of success 30 years ago but has been off the radar a bit.
The two hour show focused on her first two albums "Rickie Lee Jones"(1979) and "Pirates"(1981) that both went Top 5 in America. Now aged 57 she still has that hippy chick kind of vibe going on.A great band including a horn section mixing up jazz, blues, soul, country and rock.Good tracks included "Easy Money" her only UK hit "Chuck Es In Love",
"Company","A Lucky Guy" and "Texaco".
A couple of times Rickie got very emotional and broke down in tears as she remembers those early days when she had a heroin habit and she just seemed happy to have come out of it on the other side. The crowd gave her a full standing ovation at the end.A good gig.
