THE SONGS OF JONI MITCHELL live at Shepherds Bush Empire .
This tribute show played The Roundhouse last year .
The real Joni Mitchell turned 82 a few days before this show .
I have never seen Joni Mitchell before as she rarely visits the UK
I think her last London show was Wembley Arena in 1983.
Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez were often called " a female Bob Dylan" in the 1960s.
They are revered singer-songwriters who emerged from the folk scene and are considered three of the most important and influential artists of their generation.
Not many tribute shows have major promoters, but this has one...SJM.
-----------------
It is stalls seated tonight as it's mainly an older crowd.
Level 3 is pretty empty , so maybe 700 or 800 tickets sold.
Surprise to see a couple of known faces here.
Comedian RICH HALL and leading industrial designer RON ARAD.
Ron's daughter is the shows curator, and one of the performers.
The show was on for 1 hour 55 mins over two sets of 50 mins and 65 mins.
Normally a tribute show is one performer , but tonight there are several different performers - 5 female 2 male.
They take it in turn...some with guitar or some with piano...some with both.
I am not that familiar with Jonis songs to be honest.
The crowd are very respectful, as you could hear a pin drop during the songs.
The highlights for me were a great 'Big Yellow Taxi' in the first half, and the finale of everyone on stage for 'Both Sides Now' which was excellent .
The other songs ticked along ok, but were not really that exciting .
The audience loved it .
At the end of the show, the artists signed in the venue foyer .

Most of the stores are offering complimentary drinks and food , including champers , cocktails , including espresso martins , wines , mulled wines ,beers , fruit and cream waffles ,canapes.
then
7.05pm to 9.15pm.
BURLINGTON ARCADE Christmas Launch Party , Piccadilly , London W1.
Again , all the posh stores are open and showcasing.
This was a bigger and better event as must be 500 guests here.
Nice to see actress CELIA IMRIE here.
The female who farted recently on TV show The Traitors was actress Celia Imrie during a tense moment in the Celebrity Traitors episode. She broke the silence by farting while the contestants were chained together in a dark cabin, and she immediately owned up to it, attributing the sound to nerves.
Lots of security , as the posh shops have high value items.
A small army of male models in smart Ivy type velvet jackets are serving the drinks.
A DJ is playing dance tunes in the middle.
There is a live sax player walking up and down the arcade.
Lots of complimentary drinks and food , including champers , wines , cheeseburgers , toasted cheese sarnies , lobster rolls, canapes and mince pies .
