This day 58 years ago in 1962. Only two days after Pete Best was fired, the Beatles performed their first official gig with new drummer RINGO STARR. The concert took place at Hulme Hall in Birkenhead – a ferry 'cross the Mersey away from Liverpool – on Aug. 18, 1962. --------------- This day 10 years ago in 2010. French beauty brand Etat Libre D'Orange announced that they have teamed up with legendary bad boy rockers THE SEX PISTOLS to bottle the scent of the Punk era by launching the band's first fragrance. Company executives said "To wear this scent, you must resist tradition, fight conformity and disregard aromatic conventions." --------------- Major promoters at a music industry forum have said they expect consumer confidence in live music to be so low they will have to cut ticket prices, which will mean lower artist fees and thus either fewer crew or lower crew wages; crew members expect the return of live music to be accompanied by freelancers desperate for work undercutting each others’ rates. --------------- Sex Pistol GLEN MATLOCK has a full page interview in today's Daily Mirror - page 29.
