Thursday 07 January 2021. NEIL YOUNG is the latest high-profile musician to cash in on his song rights, selling a 50% stake in his music to British investment company Hipgnosis. The company said it acquired half of Young's global copyright and income interests of his catalog, which includes 1,180 songs. Would be funny if Neil Young forgot to tell them that the 50% he has kept are all his classic songs from the 1960s and 1970s and Hipgnosis has bought the other lesser known material. ------------------- Friday 08 January 2021. BBC4 tv has an evening of programmes for the 5th anniversary of David Bowies death - 10 Jan David Bowie would have been 74 today. I saw David Bowie live over 20 times from 1976. I got his "Heathen" album signed by him and a handshake at HMV, Oxford Circus in Sept 2002. There is a picture of it on my photos page at the bottom of my website. When I had a five year stint reviewing gigs for my local paper, David Bowie was one of them. See my Facebook page for the actual review. I also went to the opening night for his 'Bowie Is" exhibition at The V & A Museum, London SW7. That was 20 March 2013 - a great event with loads of celebs from music, film, art, fashion etc. David Bowie was not there as he stayed in New York due to retirement/health problems. ----------- Happy Birthday to SHIRLEY BASSEY is 84 today. -------------------- Saturday 09 January 2021.
