Monday 01 February 2021. London Live tv 11pm - Rude Boy (1980 film) featuring The Clash. ----------------- Tuesday 02 February 2021. Sex Pistol SID VICIOUS died 42 years ago today on 02 Feb 1979... He was aged just 21. VICIOUS WHITE KIDS at The Electric Ballroom, Camden, London on 15 August 1978. I was at this show that was Sid Vicious last appearance on a UK stage. Vicious was due to fly to New York City and needed money,so after bumping into ex-Pistol Glen Matlock one day, he decided to play a gig with him. Matlock, who Vicious had replaced in the Sex Pistols, saw it as an opportunity "to show there was no animosity" between them, he later commented.Matlock recruited his Rich Kids bandmate Steve New on guitar, and The Damned's Rat Scabies completed the line up on drums. Vicious' girlfriend Nancy Spungen sang backing vocals, but after hearing her at rehearsals, Matlock made sure her microphone was not plugged in on the night of the gig. The name of the band came from an amalgamation of Sid Vicious, The Rich Kids and Rat Scabies' part-time outfit The White Cats. Although i went to many punk gigs in the 1970s , like everyone else i rarely took a camera, but for this I did. One of those crappy little things where only half a dozen photos came out of a roll of 24. There are three photos i took at the gig that night on my Facebook page. ----------------- Wednesday 03 February 2021. It is less than five minutes walk from Slough train station....just one stop on the train to Windsor. A new 'double-decker' hotel has opened in Slough - featuring nods to the town's past and a classic TV show. The Moxy and Residence Inn hotels are part of a bigger residential, retail and leisure hub built on the former site of Slough Library - at the junction Bath Road and Windsor Road. At the moment, the hotels are only taking booking for guests exempted from the government's coronavirus guidelines - such as people coming to the town for work purposes or attending medical appointments. The Moxy has 152 rooms and incorporates graphics from Thunderbirds into its designs. The world-famous puppet show was filmed in Slough in the 1960s by creators Gerry and Sylvia Anderson. The Residence Inn has 92 suites and designed for longer-staying guests, who can enjoy views of the London skyline. ---------- SKY ARTS 8pm - Pub Rock documentary. BBC1 9pm - It's A Sin - episode 3 of 5. Excellent sublime series about London’s gay community in the 1980s, from the creator of Queer as Folk.
