Theatres will reopen on May 17 but venues will be limited to half of their total capacity, with a maximum limit of 1,000 people, the Government has announced.
Restrictions on indoor events are among the strictest, with evidence showing that the virus is much more likely to spread between people who meet inside.
Theatre performances, cinemas and other live events will be phased back in as part of Step 3 of the easing of lockdown, but social distancing restrictions will be maintained and venues will be limited to a maximum capacity of 1,000 people, with no more than 50 per cent of seats filled.

I have been to a few hundred shows at that iconic venue , including many legendary gigs.
My first shows there were Bryan Ferry and Abba in 1977.
A spokesman for the venue said " the first major event back should be in June" so that means
shows including Bryan Adams (April) and Eric Clapton (May) will be officially postponed soon.

Happy Birthday to actor DENNIS WATERMAN who is 73 today.
Anyone around my age will remember how good he was in tv series " The Sweeney" and "Minder".
He became well known as DS George Carter in The Sweeney during the 1970s. As well as starring as Terry McCann in Minder, Waterman sang the theme song, "I Could Be So Good for You", which was a top three UK hit in 1980 and a top ten hit in Australia.
This time last year, i caught this Canadian singer-songwriter support at Shepherds Bush Empire.
Never heard of him before but had a few really good songs, and this was one of them.
It is an updated video with city images from his European tour , including London and Paris.
It also mixes in some front stalls fan clips from Shepherds Bush Empire.

I have seen The Alarm around 20 times since they headlined Hammersmith Odeon in 1985,
along with several shows of him in Dead Men Walking and other projects.
