Thursday 22 April 2021. Very sad news that Bay City Rollers frontman LES MCKEOWN has died suddenly, aged 65. The Scottish boy band were the biggest band in the country for a couple of years in the 1970s. Teenage girls loved them , think along the massive level of One Direction and Take That. When BCR split, i saw Les fronting his version of the band a few times. Also I was at their reunion shows at Hammersmith Apollo in 2015 and 2016 with three original members. ---------- Happy Birthday to big screen legend JACK NICHOLSON who is 84 today. He is one of only three male actors to win three Academy Awards. ------------------- Friday 23 April 2021. 23 April 1991 - JOHNNY THUNDERS died 30 years ago today....he was aged just 38.... The current Vive Le Rock magazine has a multi-page issue on JT in selected stores this month. Happy Birthday to music producer TONY VISCONTI (David Bowie, T.Rex, etc) who is 74 today. ---------- Happy Birthday to CAPTAIN SENSIBLE from The Damned who is 67 today. I have seen The Damned around 40 times including once in 1976 and ten times in 1977. The Academy Awards (The Oscars) are held in Los Angeles Sunday , and highlights will be shown Monday morning on UK tv channels. ----------- Fancy working the bar at some good live music venues, that are based all around the UK?
