Tuesday 01 June 2021. Happy Birthday to RONNIE WOOD who is 74 today. I have seen him many times playing with The Rolling Stones, The Faces and solo. I will put up a photo on Facebook later of Ronnie and myself. ----------- Happy Birthday to TOM ROBINSON who is 71 today. I have seen Tom on stage over 20 times since those early TRB gigs in 1977. ----------- 01 June 2011 - it was 10 years ago i attended this surreal RINGO STARR event. First was The Ringo Starr Press Conference and then later Kings Of Leon gig. First was 12.30 to 7pm. Ringo Starr And His All Starr Band press conference.Meet 12.30 at Embankment tube station. 1pm bus leaves for secret location.(a bit of a Magical Mystery Tour as such).Only 30 people on the bus from major UK news folks inc BBC ,The Sun and errr raysgigs.com.We used a Greyhound Bus who have started up in the UK the past couple of years. We got given a press release by them stating an incredible list of songs that the term Greyhound Bus has been used in.Its a full 2 hours on the bus through South London deep into the lovely Surrey countryside where we arrive at Dunsfold Aerodrome,Godalming,Surrey.Inside Hanger 86 there are around 100 more media folks from all over Europe.Loads of tv crews. We have some freebie sarnies, pastries and coffees.Ringo Starr And His All Starr Band come out one by one. They play a four song 20 mins set."Boys" sung by Ringo."Free Ride" sung by Edgar Winter."Broken Wings" sung by Mister Mister singer Richard Page and finally "With A Little Help From My Friends" sung by Ringo. We then had a 25 mins Q and A session.Ringo was professional and relaxed with his answers.Only around 150 here in total so a very nice exclusive event.View the event on www.muzu.tv.The 28 date European Tour starts on June 04 and includes Hampton Court on 17 June. Two hours to get back but as Live Nation are the promoters of Ringo Starr and Kings Of Leon half the bus was on the guest list to review Kings Of Leon so we stopped off at the 02 on the way back which was a good result and got off .......then Kings Of Leon + The Whigs live at The 02 Arena,London. This was the replacement show for the one in Dec 2010 when their tour bus caught fire at the venue.Up first we have The Whigs who play a decent 30 mins set. Kings Of Leon are pretty boring apart from a couple of good tracks including "Sex on Fire".
