Monday 13 September 2021. 2.15pm to 5pm... IMBIBE LIVE at Olympia, London W14. This was Day 1 of this massive two day trade/press showcase for the drinks market. Around 5000 folks are expected here on each day. Over 100 stands covering spirits, wines, beers.with most giving out samples and tastings. My faves were... Black Tears Black Spiced Rum Whitley Neill Gin Don Papa Rum Hofmeister Beers Duvet Belguim Beers ------- then 5pm to 6.30pm. IMBIBE afterparty at The Keep , Brook Green, London W14. Drinks party hosted by ServedUp at this cosy pub , five mins walk from Olympia. We had a couple of complimentary pints of Guinness here. ------- then 7.30pm. BACK TO THE FUTURE : THE MUSICAL opening night at The Adelphi Theatre, Strand, London WC2. Back To The Future: The Musical is a stage musical with music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard and a book by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, adapted from their original screenplay. Based on the 1985 film of the same name, the show features original music alongside hits from the film, including "The Power of Love" and "Johnny B. Goode". ------------------- A DeLorean car is parked near the venue, and there are a dozen photographers outside the venue. The 1500 capacity theatre is rammed sold out inside. BRIAN MAY and ANITA DOBSON are sitting a couple of rows behind me. Also here were Cameron MacKintosh (theatre producer), Jonathan Shalit ( talent manager), Andy Serkis (actor and film director), a rare sighting of comedian Justin Lee Collins who has kept a low profile since the court case of the harassment of his ex wife. At the end of the show, producers, writers and directors of the show said a few words and original film cast member Christopher Lloyd was introduced on stage. The show was on for 2 hours 35 mins - two sets of 80 mins and 75 mins. The character playing the The Michael J Fox role is a dead ringer for him. Lots of singing and dancing and comedy all rolled into one. We had two versions of the big hit from the film "The Power of Love". Lots of scenery changes and a nice stage production. A great stunt at the end as the DeLorean car flew over the top of the folks in the stalls. A very enjoyable show.
