Sunday 19 September 2021. FRANK TURNER AND THE SLEEPING SOULS play The Roundhouse. This show is the last of his four nights at this venue. Frank Turner is calling this mini-festival of his ---- "Lost Evenings". There are two stages , with three acts on each. The second stage is The Nick Alexander stage, in tribute to Nick from Colchester who was was killed while working merchandise for Eagles of Death Metal at the Bataclan theatre when three extremists burst into the venue in Paris Nov 2015. I saw Frank Turner headline Wembley Arena back in 2013. FRANK TURNER & THE SLEEPING SOULS arrived on stage at 9.15pm for their 1 hour 40 mins set. As usual it is a very lively passion filled set from Frank and his band. Frank is very much a man of the people who adores his fans and his road crew. He changed the set around a bit over the four nights played at this venue. A great solo section in the middle featured a fab "Thatcher Fucked The Kids". A very enjoyable show. Full Frank Turner setlist played tonight... BOY PABLO and FUR play St John at Hackney Church, London E5. Born and raised in Norway by Chilean parents, Pablo Muņoz aka Boy Pablo is a singer-songwriter making bedroom pop songs for every walk of teenage life. Harmonically rich and melodically and lyrically sweet, Pablo's won fans all over the world. This is bedroom pop on a whole other level. My second visit to this venue, which has been stunningly refurbished inside. The venue is half empty as only 700 tickets sold but that's pretty impressive from an act that nobody I know I has heard of...Boy Pablo is promoted by those cool folks at Eat Your Own Ears who know their stuff, so it is likely he will get much more popular over the next couple of years. FUR arrived on stage at 8pm for their 30 mins set. Fur from Brighton did a good set , with a Vaccines type sound. The singer has long hair and retro clothing for that cool 70s look. BOY PABLO and his band arrived on stage at 9pm for their 1 hour 30 mins set. In Oct 2020 Boy Pablo released his debut studio album, " Wachito Rico " the title means "handsome boy", The album's singles are "Hey Girl", "Honey" and "Rest Up". With the release of the latter single, Boy Pablo announced its second-ever headlining world tour to support the album. Boy Pablo is a bit short and chubby , so is an unlikely looking pop star. This show was the first stalls standing event at this venue for over a year since covid struck. The crowd bounced along to his catchy pop tunes, and sung along to most of them, and images were projected on the big screen. The support band joined them for a dance on stage at the end. A good show. -------------------------------------------- Friday 17 September 2021. PRINTWORKS London SE16 re-opens with a special extravaganza. Mega warehouse type venue opens up after covid with a sold out in advance event. DJs to be announced on the day, and a no phones on the dance floor policy. 5000 capacity venue that used to print The Daily Mail and Evening Standard until 2012. ------------------ This sprawling venue of different dance floors, staircases, tunnels appears a long way out on the outskirts of London but it is Canada Water tube station in Zone 2 and then 5 mins walk. We have drinks in a pub nearby in the area then arrive in the venue 11pm and stay to 3am. The actual times of the event was 7.30pm to 4am. Most of the surprisingly white and dare i say white middle class are already inside. Most of the folks are under 40 but there are several around our age. Techno beats are playing and we have a mooch around and a bit of a dance. There was a big open air space as well that had half a dozen food trucks. The venue is all cashless.
