Tuesday 21 September 2021. ELBOW live Hammersmith Apollo. Elbow play the second of three London shows as part of their UK tour. Elbow have released eight critically acclaimed albums. In 2008, Elbow won the Mercury Music Prize for their fourth album " The Seldom Seen Kid", and in 2009 they won the Brit Award for Best British Group. I have seen them live a few times before. ------------------ We had two support acts playing 25 mins sets each. JESCA HOOP then PETER ALEXANDER JOBSON....both were pretty boring. ELBOW arrived on stage at 9pm for their 1 hour 55 mins set. As usual, Elbow frontman Guy Garvey begins with a joke: “Good evening, sorry we’re late.” This gig was originally intended to be in April 2020 but covid messed that up. Guy is your friendly mate next door , who sips his pint on stage between songs. A nice stage production with lots of lights, lasers, strobes, two mirror balls and the band were on two raised platforms....and the sound quality was great. The last four songs of the show were all top notch and a 10 minute version of their anthemic singalong classic "One Day Like This" was spine tingling....a great show.
