Wednesday 22 September 2021.

Wednesday 22 September 2021....I went to two events today... 3pm to 5.35pm HAIRSPRAY at The Coliseum, St Martin's Lane, London WC2. Hairspray is a musical with music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, based on John Waters's 1988 film of the same name. The songs include 1960s-style dance music and "downtown" rhythms, and is based in Baltimore, USA. At last, i finally get to see this feel-good musical. It was on for 2 hours 10 mins over for two sets of 75 mins and 55 mins. Always great to be in this stunningly beautiful theatre. Lots of singing and dancing and bright costumes and scenery changes. Well known names MICHAEL BALL and LES DENNIS are in the show. They performed a great duet in the show titled "You're Timeless To Me". Michael Ball is the mum and Les Dennis is the dad, and they snog each other to big cheers. The lead female tonight was excellent. A very enjoyable show. then 6pm to 9pm DECCA/UNIVERSAL album launch party - Tamesis Dock, Albert Embankment, London SE1. Around 70 or 80 guests on this boat moored on the Thames opposite Deccas original 1960s HQ. A nice sunny evening so nice to be on the top deck getting the views in and the fresh air. A newish DECCA signing have an album out in Jan 2022 but we are not allowed to talk about it until then. The four man band arrived on stage at 6.30pm and performed six good songs in a 30 mins set. Complimentary Mojito cocktails, wines, beers, mini burgers, cartons of fish n chips and canapés for all the guests. Due to the Internet and bands having their own websites, record companies don't really need to have album launch parties these days , so well done to DECCA/Universal for making a good event.
