Tuesday 28 September 2021. 5pm to 8pm. INTERNATIONAL SECURITY EXPO afterparty at The Hilton Hotel, Olympia, London W14. This party was held after the main event which was nearby at Olympia. A big crowd and a very lively event, must be at least 90% men here. A full complimentary bar including espresso martinis, negronis, a full range of spirits, wines, beers and canapés for all guests. All guests got a goodie bag on departure , and mine had a t-shirt with the words "HACKER IN TRAINING " alongside a L learner logo. then FLYTE and FAKE LAUGH play Shepherds Bush Empire. London-based trio Flyte, tour their second album, "This is Really Going to Hurt". An honest and soul-saving beauty, it’s a record that at once feels timeless, like a well-thumbed record dusted down off a shelf, but with a rawness and a voice that feels urgently contemporary. ------------------ FAKE LAUGH arrived on stage at 8.40pm for a 30 mins set. Support act played some songs that ticked along ok. FLYTE arrived on stage at 9.35pm for their 70 mins set. Level 2 and 3 are closed as unsold but there is still 1000 people here which is pretty amazing for a band that i don't recall seeing any reviews in the media or heard them on the radio. Folks seem to have found them on streaming services like Spotify etc. The singer says "it is a dream come true, to play this venue". It is a mainly laid back kind of sound they play, with some nice harmonies. Highlights were "Light Me Up " and the final encore "Faithless". A good show.
