Wednesday 29 September 2021....I went to two events tonight... 6pm to 7.30pm POP GOES THE ARTS CLUB - The world of PETER BLAKE - private view - The Arts Club, Dover Street, Mayfair, London W1. Around 100 smartly dressed guests at this private members club. Sir Peter Blake is showcasing an exhibition of paintings, found objects and collage artworks, including paintings of The Queen and Meghan Markle. Now aged 89, Sir Peter Blake is a pop-art legend who did album covers for the likes of The Beatles and Oasis. Sadly Peter is now in a wheelchair, so did not attend tonight but 80s fashion guru and man about town PETER YORK is here. Complimentary champers and wines for all guests. then 8pm to 11pm ROLLING STONE UK MAGAZINE - launch party - The Rosewood, Holborn, London WC1. Around 200 guests at this luxury five star hotel. This was the venue where i attended all five of Harvey Weinstein BAFTA after-parties. Iconic American music magazine is bringing out a UK version. The music magazine still sells more than 700,000 copies a month in America. It is quite a brave move as physical sales of music magazines are declining due to the Internet. Many magazines including NME and Q have gone digital so hopefully this one is a success. Oddly , MICK JAGGER bought and owned the UK version in the 1960s, but it soon folded after he left it " in the hands of amateurs and hippies". One issue back then had Bob Dylan on the cover, but they spelt his name as Bob Dillon. A very lively party but not many musicians here as i was hoping for. Singer BIRDY was here...also the singer from TOWERS OF LONDON (remember them?) Comedian and tv presenter TOM ALLEN was here, actress KATE HOLDERNESS was here. The nice chatty girls from last week's DECCA/Universal boat gig album launch were here. Two members of BASTILLE play just two piano based songs , including a Kate Bush cover. Nice to see them in this intimate setting, as they can headline arenas these days. Radio 1 DJ ADELE ROBERTS is spinning some good tracks. Lots of complimentary drinks and food for all the guests including two different cocktails, different spirits, wines, beers, ciders, different bowl food including fish n chips and desserts. I will put a photo of the drinks and food menu on my Facebook page. All guests got a Rolling Stone cloth tote bag with a copy of Issue 1 in it. The 180 page British edition is priced at 6.95 and is in stores at the weekend. A great party.
