Sunday 31 October 2021

Saturday 30 October 2021. THE PINEAPPLE THIEF live at Shepherds Bush Empire. The Pineapple Thief is a British progressive rock band, started by Bruce Soord in 1999 in Somerset, England. They are on a tour of the U.K. & mainland Europe. The band has released thirteen studio albums. Their highest UK charting album was "Dissolution " which hit number 36 in 2018. I saw them play good shows at this venue in 2018 and 2019. Support comes from ALEX HENRY FOSTER & THE LONG SHADOWS. He is very popular back home in Canada. His recent album release from April this year , "Standing Under Bright Lights" made the UK charts at number 32. ------------------ Around 1200 folks here as level 2 is half empty and Level 3 is closed off as unsold. Support act arrived on stage at 7.30pm for their 40 mins set. They played a good set as when the two guitars and keyboards rocked out, the wall of sound was really good. THE PINEAPPLE THIEF arrived on stage at 8.30pm for their 1 hour 45 mins set. The band all arrive on stage wearing simple black t-shirts. They are all great musicians. The addition of brilliant drummer Gavin Harrison, from not one but two legendary progressive rock bands in Porcupine Tree and King Crimson, has made a quantum leap in quality and reputation. I do not know any of their songs, but the last four played tonight seemed to be their best. They sound best when they rock out, rather than the slower ones. A good show and the crowd loved it.
