Sunday 31 October 2021. MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST + DORO play Shepherds Bush Empire. A very nice pairing of German rock legends. MICHAEL SCHENKER celebrating 50 years since his first stage performance. He is promoting his 2021 album "Immortal". I have seen MICHAEL SCHENKER on stage around 20 times since the 1970s. Expect Micheal to play several U.F.O. classics in the setlist...Michael is now aged 66. I saw DORO on stage four times in the 1980s, when she fronted her band Warlock. Once supporting W.A.S.P. In 1986 , and three times supporting Dio in 1987. ------------------ It is an early start , early finish tonight. All levels open but not sold out, so maybe 1500 out 2000 capacity here. DORO arrived on stage at 6.30pm for her 45 mins set. Now aged 57, she still has that mane of long hair, and tight black stage outfit. She always reminded me of a German Samantha Fox. Her three band mates at the front are all over 6 feet, so she uses a small podium to stand on. A few Warlock tracks played and a cover of Judas Priest "Breaking The Law"....a good set. MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST arrived on stage at 7.45pm , and played for a nice long 2 hours 10 mins. Plenty of great guitar playing and riffs , as Michael weaved his magic with his trademark Flying V guitar. Michael is hunched over his guitar pulling all the right moves, and still looks like a proper rock star. 1970s/ 1980s rock photographer Ross Halfin was here along with eight other photographers in the pit. Ross normally makes sure all the other photographers leave after three songs but MS tour manager has said all the photographers can stay in the pit the entire show, which Ross would not like..... ....and what would have pissed Ross off even more was that one of the "photographers" was taking all his photos on a smart phone. At the end of "Rock Bottom" Michael got his camera out and starting taking photos of the photographers and the crowd. Needless to say that the highlights were all the UFO classics that were played. A great show Full MS FEST setlist played tonight.... Ascension Cry for the Nations Doctor Doctor (UFO cover) Sleeping With the Lights On Assault Attack We Are the Voice Looking for Love Warrior Into the Arena In Search of the Peace of Mind (Scorpions cover) Red Sky Lights Out (UFO cover) After the Rain Armed and Ready Sail the Darkness Rock You to the Ground Drilled to Kill Rock Bottom (UFO cover) (included a lengthy guitar solo from MS) Shoot Shoot (UFO cover) Let It Roll (UFO cover) Natural Thing (UFO cover) Too Hot to Handle (UFO cover) Only You Can Rock Me (UFO cover)
