Monday 07 February 2022.

Monday 07 February 2022. ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN live at The Roundhouse. Support dj set comes from legendary Creation Records (Oasis etc) boss ALAN McGEE. Ian McCulloch wants a DJ to play his fave songs from when he went to Eric's club in Liverpool in the 1970s. First of two London shows by this band that had some great tracks in the 1980s. This show is sold out , so an extra show confirmed for Shepherds Bush Empire on 22 Feb. They had 15 x Top 40 hits in the UK, including 3 x Top 10. I have seen them live over a dozen times since 1979 when they supported The Teardrop Explodes at The Nashville Pub. ------------------ DJ ALAN McGEE is playing some cool tunes including Siouxsie, Bowie, Velvet Underground, Mott The Hoople and some obscure tracks. He has kept his long puffa coat on and wearing a baseball cap, and he does not say anything to the crowd, as he fiddles most of the time with his phone. He departs the stage quietly, and nobody seems that bothered , as no applause. ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN arrived on stage at 9.10pm for their 90 mins set. They were due to play a bit longer as "Ocean Rain" was a third encore on the setlist ,but did not play it. As the band take the stage , they are followed by several guests from their dressing room area who are swigging drinks left of stage, including NOEL GALLAGHER and both Ian's daughters. IAN McCULLOCH is wearing his trademark long coat and shades, and is effortlessly cool. It is a pretty average stage production. Ian talks to the crowd in his usual mumbling scouse accent, as if talking to himself. Several great hits played tonight , including "All That Jazz" early on in the set with its stunning machine gun like drumming, and "The Cutter" was a superb ending to the main set. A great show. Full setlist played tonight.... Going Up Show of Strength All That Jazz Flowers Rescue / Broke My Neck Bring On the Dancing Horses Over the Wall All My Colours (Zimbo) Seven Seas Bedbugs and Ballyhoo Villiers Terrace / Roadhouse Blues / The Jean Genie Nothing Lasts Forever / Walk on the Wild Side Never Stop The Cutter Encore: Lips Like Sugar Encore 2: The Killing Moon ------------------------------------ Saturday 05 February 2022. FA CUP 4th Round Football. Lots of games shown live on BBC and ITV over the weekend. Friday's live game had an amazing climax as Middlesboro beat Man Utd 8-7 on penalties. ------------------------------------ Friday 04 February 2022. Happy Birthday to ALICE COOPER who is 74 today. I have seen Alice Cooper live around 20 times since Sept 1975 when i saw both his Wembley Arena shows. Hopefully, i will see him play in May 2022, during his planned UK arena tour.
