Friday 11 February 2022.

Friday 11 February 2022. KURUPT FM live at PRINTWORKS , Canada Water, London SE16. As seen on BBC tv comedy series "People Just Do Nothing" - fictional hip-hop/rap/garage collective. The first of two Friday nights at this 5000 capacity venue, but today it is capped at 3500 as a couple of the usual club rooms are closed as this gig is all on the one stage....tonight is sold out....8pm to 2am... KURUPT FM DJ ZINC [JUNGLE SET] NOVELIST FIYAH WATA SOUND GIRLS DON'T SYNC Kurupt FM are bringing pure Kuruption live to Printworks in February After selling out the 11th February show in less than an hour, Kurupt FM confirms another Printworks takeover on 18th February. Deemed the best (and only) pirate radio station in the whole of Brentford, Kurupt FM brings The Greatest Hits Arena Tour 2022 to our live space. The tour follows the release of Kurupt FM’s latest album The Greatest Hits (Part 1) on Polydor/Universal , with 21 club-ready anthems and guest appearances from the cream of the crop of the UK industry. Their tour is promoted by one of the main gig promoters...SJM... ----------------- It is freezing winter weather outside , and inside this cavernous building, it remains pretty cold. I was hoping the headliners would be over by midnight, but set times posted around the venue state the headliners will not be on stage until after midnight. The support acts come and go, and the stage area is all a bit too dark and gloomy. Drum and bass do not go in for big light shows like the more livelier uptempo dance genres. KURUPT FM arrive on stage at the mad time of 00.40am and finish at 02.05am...85 mins set. They mix their drum n bass music style with a bit of comedy...you could say a drum and bass Spinal Tap. A lot of the tracks on this new album are actually fantastic, with intricate and catchy beats, MC Grindah’s charismatic and unique delivery and an impossible-to-replicate sense of camaraderie behind the scenes coming through in the skits added to the tracks. ‘Letter to Grindah’, a track from DJ Beats that gives a hint of a backstory to these characters and further develops the relationship between Beats and Grindah, something that has always been apparent but never really explored beyond that. It’s a genuinely touching track that seems to come out of nowhere with its subtle emotional gut-punch. Kurupt classic ‘Heart Monitor Riddim’, is undoubtedly one of the funniest rap tracks ever recorded with hilarious lyrics and delivery, and a much heavier, bass-heavy beat that really kicks. For those in on the jokes (of which there are thousands, even down to the new album cover blatantly ripping off the Queen II album cover, which they even use for their UK tour t-shirt merch). It got very lively down the front of stage and it was a good show. ------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- Thursday 10 February 2022. ELLE EYRE + BOW ANDERSON live at The Forum. Elle Eyre is best known known for her collaborations with Rudimental on their UK number-one single "Waiting All Night" (2013), which won the 2014 Brit Award for British Single of the Year, with DJ Fresh on his single "Gravity" (2015), and with Sigala on their singles "Came Here for Love" (2017) and "Just Got Paid" (2018). Her debut EP, Deeper, was released in 2013 and her debut album, Feline, was released in 2015. She has gone a bit quiet the past couple of years, after her initial big splash. ---------------- There is space upstairs and down, so the venue is maybe three quarters full. BOW ANDERSON arrived on stage at 8pm for her 30 mins set. Edinburgh born female singer did an OK set which included a slowed down cover of Tears For Fears "Everybody Wants To Rule The World". ELLE EYRE arrived on stage at 9pm for her 70 mins set. A very nice stage production as we have all white different level platforms and staircases. Her band includes two female backing singers. The bouncy catchy uptempo pop songs went down better than the slower tracks. A good show.... Full Elle Eyre setlist played tonight...
