Saturday 19 February 2022.

Saturday 19 February 2022. Happy Birthday to guitar legend TONY IOMMI who is 74 today. I have seen him on stage many times with Black Sabbath since 1974. --------------- 19 Feb 1980 - rock legend BON SCOTT died 42 years ago today. I was lucky to have seen him on stage with AC/DC 19 times with the first time in 1976. --------------- Happy Birthday to actor RAY WINSTONE who is 65 today. One of my fave actors ever since he was in the classic borstal film "Scum" in 1979. -------------------------------------- Friday 18 February 2022. WOLF ALICE live at Hammersmith Apollo. Wolf Alice play the first of three shows at this venue....part of a UK tour... The band features founder members singer Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie, plus Theo Ellis - bass/ keys and Joel Amey - drums/ keys/ vocals....playing dirty indie-rock. Wolf Alice were shortlisted for the BBC Sound of 2015 poll, releasing their debut album, "My Love Is Cool" the same year, followed by the 2018 Mercury Prize-winning album, "Visions of a Life", released in 2017. Third Album, "Blue Weekend" was released in 2021 and nominated for a Mercury Prize. NME put their new album "Blue Weekend" in their Top 10 Best Albums of 2021. In Feb 2022 Wolf Alice won "Best Group" at the prestigious BRIT Awards. ----------------- The support band LUCIA & THE BEST BOYS arrived onstage at 8pm for their 30 mins set. They hail from Glasgow , and have a cool retro stage wear look , and with haircuts to match...a good set. WOLF ALICE arrived on stage at 9.15pm for their 80 mins set. For the first time in ages, i am front stalls standing at this venue. Their fans are mostly under 30, but a few oldies are here too. Starts off well, as the bass player is wearing the iconic punk t-shirt "Two Cowboys". They had two of their crew videoing the show throughout the set. It seems harder than ever to be a successful rock band these days ,with so many solo singers around, but Wolf Alice have managed to do very well over the past few years. They are a pretty unconventional band as they mix indie rock, grunge, shoegaze, dream pop and punk. The crowd sing along to all the songs, as singer Ellie is in cool blonde indie-rock chick mode. The set pretty much featured the best tracks from their three albums. A really good show. Full Wolf Alice setlist played tonight...
