Wednesday 23 February 2022.

Tuesday 22 February 2022. ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN live at Shepherds Bush Empire. The band play their second London show on their UK tour. The DJ will again be ex Creation Records boss - Alan McGee. Check out my review from their 07 Feb 2022 show at The Roundhouse. ---------------- Level 3 is half empty , but tonight is a near sell out, with all the other levels packed. The evening is pretty much the same as the one i saw two weeks ago, although Echo & The Bunnymen do change a couple of songs in the setlist order. Support act ALAN McGEE is playing some cool DJ sounds, but again says nothing to the audience. I bump into music pr legend ALAN EDWARDS (David Bowie and many others). ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN arrived on stage at 9pm for their 90 mins set. Front man Ian McCulloch again has the long heavy coat and shades. Again, it is only backlighting only on him, so no spotlight on his face. Again, he mumbles away in his scouse accent when he talks to the crowd between songs. Effortless cool from Ian as he sings many great songs from their 1980s heyday. "Lips Like Sugar is moved from the encore to the main set (compared to The Roundhouse). "The Cutter" is moved from the end of the main set, to the encore (compared to The Roundhouse). His nifty guitarist Will Sergeant is still here after 40 years but oddly Ian does not look at him or introduce him to the crowd. For some reason they did not play "Ocean Rain" at The Roundhouse as their usual final encore, but it does get played tonight. A great show.
