Sunday 06 March 2022. Looks like the rumours of THE ROLLING STONES playing summer UK shows are true. In the next week or so , it looks likely that two Hyde Park shows will be confirmed. Also another stadium show at Anfield, Liverpool is also planned. ----------------- Happy Birthday to DAVID GILMOUR who is 76 today. ----------------- SKY ARTS are dedicating many programmes to TINA TURNER this weekend...Sat and Sun... Includes that stunning outdoor show at Wembley Stadium that i saw in 2000. These are the shows I saw Tina up until 2000. Tina Turner Wembley Arena , London 19.11.1996 Fantastic 1 hour 45 mins set Tina Turner Wembley Arena , London 19.12.1996 same great show as last month but tonight I was much nearer the front so enjoyed it even more . Tina Turner + Lionel Richie + John Fogerty Wembley Stadium , London 16.07.2000 a rare UK showing by John Fogerty who played a few Creedence Clearwater Revival hits from the 1960s/1970s Lionel Richie did a stunning 60 mins greatest hits set with a voice that was so clear you could hear every word.Tina Turner did a fantastic 2 hour show.So many great songs and dancing .All 3 acts were excellent today ----------------------------------------------- Saturday 05 March 2022. Looks like there will be a few special benefit music shows for Ukraine in March. ----------------------------------------------- Friday 04 March 2022. BIG THIEF + TUCKER ZIMMERMAN live at Shepherds Bush Empire. I am back again at this venue for a second time to see Big Thief. Again it is another fully sold out show. TUCKER ZIMMERMAN was on stage again from 8pm to 8.35pm. Again he was introduced on stage by Big Thief , and they joined him on stage at the end of his set. Tucker at the age of 81 , is not in the best of health, as he shuffles slowly on stage. He said how he now lives the hermit life in Belgium, in the province of Liège, where he owns a studio. He moved there in the 1970s, after recording his debut album in London. He has released several albums over the past 50 years. BIG THIEF arrived on stage at 9.10pm and played for 1 hour 40 mins. The set was a bit longer tonight as they took a break when a female fan fainted in the stalls, and security took her to the medical room for attention. The cool crowd nod along during the songs, then big applause at the end of each song. They look the type that certainly buys vinyl albums. I preferred their louder ,rockin' out songs that had a bit of nice feedback. Another enjoyable show. ----------------- Happy Birthday to legendary live music promoter HARVEY GOLDSMITH who is 76 today. He was the main UK promoter in the UK in the 1970s and 1980s, including Live Aid in 1985. ----------------- DAVID SINCLAIR FOUR release their new single HIP-HOPPING featuring Johnny Cypher B-side: LET IT ROCK ----------------- More and more bands all cancelling shows in Russia. --------------------------------------------------------- Thursday 03 March 2022. BIG THIEF live at Shepherds Bush Empire. This is the second of their four shows at this venue....also on Fri 04 March + Sat 05 March. American indie-rock-folk band BIG THIEF play four shows at this venue to promote their fifth studio album. The band revealed plans to release a 20-track double album in early 2022. The album was recorded in four different locations across the United States.The band confirmed the album's title "Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You" and a February 11, 2022 release date. The album has got great reviews in the press...including five stars from The Standard. It went into the UK album charts at number 15. ---------------- Support act American singer-songwriter TUCKER ZIMMERMAN is now age 81. He has been making records for over 50 years, and Big Thief introduced him on stage as a major influence for them, and they joined him on stage for the last song of his 35 mins set. In December 1968 Tucker Zimmerman recorded and released his first album Ten Songs, produced by Tony Visconti. It was later described by David Bowie as one of his favourite albums. He sang his songs while sat on a stool...the cool crowd loved it. BIG THIEF arrived on stage at 9.05pm and played for 95 mins. The Brooklyn based quartet easily moved between folk, roots , country rock, indie , Americana and rockin out with some Neil Young type vocals and guitar workouts. The band quite happily tick along outside of the mainstream. The capacity crowd loved it. An enjoyable show.
