Friday 25 March 2022. Happy Birthday to SIR ELTON JOHN who is 75 today. I have seen him live around 40 times since 1974. ------------ Thursday 24 March 2022. MADNESS + PAUL WELLER (acoustic) live at The Royal Albert Hall, London. After not happening in March 2020 and March 2021 due to Covid-19, it is great to see that The Teenage Cancer Trust Concerts are returning to The Royal Albert Hall in March 2022. The iconic concert series has featured the greatest music and comedy for two decades, raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust and is driven by Teenage Cancer Trust Honorary Patron and The Who icon, Roger Daltrey CBE. I have seen two or three shows every year it has been on, as they get some great artists playing. ------------ A nice pairing tonight...I have seen both of them live many times over the past 40 odd years. Everyone has turned up early to see the special support act PAUL WELLER. Paul is a longtime supporter of TCT and i have seen him headline shows for it here. I have also seen Madness play a TCT show here in the past. Paul's UK tour next month includes three sold out London shows. PAUL WELLER was on stage for around 45 mins. It is more a semi-acoustic show as there are seven musicians on stage. Paul could easily reform The Jam and get a huge payday but he is not keen on any type of nostalgia. He played a mixture of more recent songs along with lovely gems including "Out Of The Sinking" , "Wild Wood" and "English Rose". MADNESS were on stage for around 90 mins. Madness always play a set that is pretty much 75% hit singles these days. Everyone is up and dancing from the start to "the nuttiest sound around". Frontman Suggs is such a great on stage ringleader. Madness are always great live, as they really have got soooo many great songs. Full MADNESS setlist played tonight...
