JCC brought out his autobiography in 2020.
----------
The stalls seating area is pretty full, but in the circle it is 75 % unsold.
The support slot was actually three poets on the bounce with a JCC gritty humourous vibe to them.
They were introduced by former road manager of The Clash , Johnny Green who now looks after JCC.
1. Clare Ferguson-Walker - Swansea poet for 15 mins.
Joked on how she spent six hours on a National Express coach to get here.
2. Mike Parry - Manchester poet for 20 mins.
Did a great tribute poem to Tony Wilson and all things Manchester.
3. Luke Wright - East Anglican poet for 20 mins.
His opening poem was a perfect tribute to JCC as it was all in his style.
It was about how Luke was driving JCC from Colchester to Salisbury.
JCC kept putting his new cowboy boots from America on the dashboard to admire them.
Luke asked him "do you fancy a walk around Salisbury before the show?".
John said "No, take me to the stage door, as I can't actually walk in these boots".
Hence Lukes top notch poem "These Boots Weren't Made For Walking".
DR JOHN COOPER CLARKE arrived on stage at 9.20pm for his 75 mins set.
Lots of younger folks here as well as the oldies who remember him from 40 years ago.
When The Arctic Monkeys covered his poem "I Wanna Be Yours" , younger fans got on board.
Some words from it are ..."Let me be your vacuum cleaner, breathing in your dust.
Let me be your Ford Cortina , I will never rust"...magic.
Like John Otway last week, JCC seems to tick along ok just doing his own thing.
Now aged 73, John is still super slim as ever, and still sporting his trademark shades.
His set is a mix of his poems and surreal comedy banter between them.
A very enjoyable show.
