One of the greatest tracks of all time was released 45 years ago today.
27 May 1977 - SEX PISTOLS "God Save The Queen".
I bought it on the day of release....my 18th birthday.

Julien Temple has put up a new video that mixes the original video footage from The Marquee Club
along with footage of the bands legendary Jubilee Boat gig in June 1977.
Sid Vicious told me about this secret event a couple of days before the event at a Ramones gig.
We went down there but it left earlier than expected so we went to see Queen at Earls Court Arena.
The June edition of Record Collector has a 12 page special on The Sex Pistols.

A near sold out show, as the venue is full apart from a half empty Level 3.
JESSE MALIN arrived on stage at 7.25pm for his 35 mins set.
Jesse plays guitar, and is helped out by a great keyboard player.
Tonight was one of those rare gigs when i wanted to see the opening act instead of the headliners.
Jesse Malin has been around for some 20 years now, and i saw him supporting Ian Hunter
at this venue in 2007.
He has that great New Yorker vibe like Willie Nile and has recorded with Bruce Springsteen.
He is promoting his 9th solo album "Sad and Beautiful World".
He returns next month to play more shows including The Strummerville Stage at Glastonbury.
A great set.

CHRIS FARREN arrived on stage for his 40 mins set.
Chris Farren popped onto the stage, immediately transforming into the wonderfully self-absorbed character he plays on stage. His first song was slightly marred by some projector malfunctions, but after the mishaps were addressed, the audience had the privilege of watching his homemade-graphics synced up to every song. Two highlights: a looped illustration of Farren him eating smaller versions of himself, and slides that simply read “GUITAR SOLO” when he began his guitar solos.
He jokes with the crowd " don't go home after watching me, and to give Brian Fallon a chance".
BRIAN FALLLON & THE HOWLING WEATHER arrived on stage at 9.30pm for their 90 mins set.
He played a good set, with the last 30 mins having the best more uptempo tunes.
Looks like he didn't play any The Gaslight Anthem songs.
