Monday 04 July 2022 TEARS FOR FEARS live at Shepherds Bush Empire. Tears For Fears are playing a full summer UK tour, with most venues being outdoors. This show is actually the smallest venue on the tour, so no surprise it sold out pronto. Their recent album "The Tipping Point" entered the UK charts at number two in March 2022. They were massive in the 1980s and sold over 30 million albums worldwide, which included 8 million albums in North America alone, where they have just completed a full tour. They had seven Top 10 hit singles in the UK between 1982 and 1985. I saw them seven times at Hammersmith Odeon when i worked front stage security there. Twice in 1983 and five times in 1985. ----------------- No real surprise that the venue is rammed solid with a mix of hardcore fans and over 100 folks on the guest list including.... VENUS WILLIAMS (the day before she was one of the 25 tennis legends paraded at Wimbledon). MATTY HEALY (singer with The 1975) IAN BROUDIE (Lightning Seeds) STEVEN WILSON (singer-songwriter) ROB STRINGER ( head of SONY MUSIC) the band gave a shout out to a few past producers who all took a bow from seats in Level 1. TEARS FOR FEARS arrived on stage at 8.30pm and played for 1 hour 50 mins. They mentioned about playing indoors in London as it will be a better sound that the outdoor gigs, but no big screens tonight, which the band seemed thankful that their facial images are not seen up close. They play a couple of their biggest hits very early on, which was a surprise. New album tracks and old album tracks ticked along ok. The older fans were keen to dance to the older hits from the 1980s. They said the last time they were at this venue was when it was a BBC tv venue in 1989, to record the Wogan show. A really good show. Full TEARS FOR FEARS setlist played tonight...
