Friday 15 July 2022.

Thursday 14 July 2022. THE STRUTS live at Shepherds Bush Empire. Modern day glam rockers are playing a UK tour between European Festival dates. Dave Grohl called them "the best support band The Foo Fighters ever had". They seem to have had more success recently in North America rather than the UK. CARDINAL BLACK are the support band. I saw them play a really good set at this venue supporting Myles Kennedy in Dec 2021. ------------------- Level 3 is closed tonight, and Level 2 is half empty so maybe 1200 out of 2000 tickets sold. Rock is Alive as we have two great bands tonight. CARDINAL BLACK arrived on stage at 8pm for their 45 mins set. Cardinal Black have been ticking over for a decade or so, and play a really good set. Some very nifty guitar playing and some powerful soulful rock vocals. They play their own headline gig at The Garage on 22 Sept 2022. THE STRUTS arrived on stage at 9.10pm for their 95 mins set. At last i am getting to see The Struts for the first time as their last couple of London gigs have clashed with other stuff, from what i can remember. The Struts perform in front of a giant British flag, to the intro sounds of Gary Glitter. Their flamboyant singer Luke Spiller has been compared to Freddie Mercury, Justin Hawkins , Mick Jagger and Tim Curry....and you can see bits of them all in his live performance. He even plays piano like Freddie Mercury too, and works the crowd perfectly. The band do play the same type of classic rock that The Darkness focus on. Luke is a total live-wire on stage, and is soon sweating buckets. The show is really entertaining , and just great to watch. They finish the show with their excellent track "Could Have Been Me" , which has seen the official video have over 12 million views on YouTube. The band take their bows to their outro song of Only Fools & Horses tv theme tune. Full setlist played by THE STRUTS tonight...
