Friday 22 July 2022.

Friday 22 July 2022. GUNS 2 ROSES live at Sub 89, Reading. The UKs top GNR tribute band play this all standing 600 capacity club venue near Reading train station. I saw Guns 2 Roses back in 2005 at The Hard Rock Cafe in London. I recently saw the real Guns N Roses at Tottenham Football Ground. www.sub89.com - Visit the venue website here to buy tickets. Also buy them via Live Nation and Ticketek...£15 plus booking fee in advance or pay on the door. -------------- Always nicely to be up close to the stage at this cool club venue. GUNS 2 ROSES arrived on stage at 8.30pm and played for 1 hour 45 mins. As most visitors to this site know, I love a good quality tribute band. Tonight Axl and Slash are the main two lookalikes and soundalikes as judging by what the singer said , it appears that the second guitarist and drummer were stand-ins as the regulars were on holiday....he didn't seem impressed about them taking time out... All the classic tracks from the "Appetite for Destruction" album were played and sounded fantastic , along with cover versions they are known for, and a couple of deep cuts only hardcore Guns N Roses fans would know. A really good show. Full setlist played by GUNS 2 ROSES tonight.... SISTER ACT - THE MUSICAL begins a six week run at Hammersmith Apollo. Check Out This Heavenly Cast UK soul singer BEVERLEY KNIGHT joins the sisterhood as Disco diva in disguise, Deloris Van Cartier. Comedy legend JENNIFER SAUNDERS takes up the habit as Mother Superior alongside an all-star cast, featuring The Greatest Showman and Tony® Award-nominated actress Keala Settle, television and stage star LESLEY JOSEPH, Hackney royalty and Olivier Award-winner Clive Rowe and Hairspray’s rising star Lizzie Bea. Brace yourself sisters for this sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, sisterhood and music. Sister Act tells the hilarious story of Deloris whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found – a convent! Disguised as a nun and under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own. Featuring original music by Tony® and 8-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin, Enchanted), dazzling dance routines and songs inspired by Motown, soul and disco, this is one nostalgia-filled trip that you will never forget. Join our congregation at Eventim Hammersmith Apollo London and Raise Your Voice for the feel-good theatrical event of the summer. It is on here from 19 July 2022 to 28 August 2022. ------------------- This was preview show number three in the run up to the press / VIP night next week. This large venue looks pretty full...not easy to fill this venue for around six weeks. Before the show starts , we have disco classics played over the pa and the mirror ball is in action. SISTER ACT was on for around 2 hours 15 mins over two sets of 70 mins and 65 mins. There is a nice big typical theatre type stage production, plus an orchestra of around 20 musicians. I have seen Beveley Knight on stage a few times over the past 20 years. Tonight she is fantastic in both her acting and her powerful soul singing voice. Highlights included the final section of the first half, where all the nuns get to grips with singing. At the start of the second half, the nuns enter through the stalls seating area and walk to the stage. A very enjoyable mix of comedy and music, and will def see it a second time.
