Thursday 08 September 2022. Very sad news that QUEEN ELIZABETH II has died aged 96. She was a pretty amazing woman , who was much loved by everyone. An incredible reign as Queen for over 70 years. She was still working just two days before her death. Prince Charles now becomes KING CHARLES III. ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- Thursday 08 September 2022. STARSAILOR live at Shepherds Bush Empire. Starsailor have had 10 x Top 40 hit singles in the UK (between 2001 and 2009). I have seen Starsailor several times since 2001 when i attended a tv recording of Later with Jools Holland. They are playing their 2001 debut album in full, as a belated tour (due to covid) for its 20th anniversary "Love is Here" is the debut studio album by rock band Starsailor, released on 8 October 2001 by Chrysalis Records. After finalising their line-up, a positive review from NME started a bidding war between record labels. The album went platinum in the UK and reached number 2 in the charts and featured five Top 40 hit singles. --------- Level 3 is closed and Level 2 is half empty , so maybe 1000 folks here. There were two support bands who played decent 30 mins each. First up was THE HORN , then ROSELLAS. STARSAILOR arrived on stage at 9.15pm for their 85 mins set. Their stage backdrop was the cover of their debut album. I always had a bit of a soft spot for Starsailor, which was mainly due to singer James Walsh being such a laid back unassuming quiet front man. The band's songs are more keyboard led, rather than guitar based. The first eleven tracks of the set is the debut album in full , which included the great singles "Alcoholic" , 'Fever" and "Good Souls". The latter part of the set included gems "In The Crossfire" and "Four to the Floor". For their encore, they played their highest charting entry, ‘'Silence is Easy’' which was incredible as the crowd singing almost out did the band themselves. A very enjoyable show. We have indoor mini-golf, indoor bowling, indoor electronic darts and now indoor AXE THROWING. Yes, indoor axe throwing. There are nine pairs of lanes with an instructor always overseeing things on each lane, and explaining how to throw the axe, and not to act foolish , and to act responsible. Nets separate each lane. We had a session where we threw 10 times each. A couple bounced out , but the rest hit various places on the target. Around 150 guests here , so it got very busy and noisy. It was good here fun, and something different.
