FRANK TURNER & The Sleeping Souls live at Shepherds Bush Empire.
Celebrating Xtra Mile Recordings 20th Anniversary - one of the gigs for The BRIT AWARDS week.
All proceeds go to WAR CHILD charity.
I have seen Frank Turner three times before, including headlining Wembley Arena in 2012.
------------
Another one of those shows with over 100 on the guest list.
Level 3 is closed tonight , but all the other levels are packed solid.
All three support acts also record for Xtra Mile Recordings.
There was a film crew , filming all the bands tonight.
GUISE arrived on stage at 7.20pm for her ok solo acoustic 25 mins set.
Guise is actually the wife of headliner Frank Turner.
BERRIES arrived on stage at 7.55pm for their 25 mins set.
A female trio who played a good set of catchy songs.
PET NEEDS arrived on stage at 8.30pm for their 30 mins set.
Pet Needs are a young band from Colchester and they were top notch.
Catchy uptempo punk inspired tunes that were really good.
FRANK TURNER & band arrived on stage at 9.25pm for their 90 mins set.
Frank Turner belts his punk-folk tunes out, and from the start the crowd are totally up for it,
as the venue is standing up, and singing along loudly.
It’s not long before we get moshing, circle pits and some crowd-surfing.
Franks high energy levels, soon get him sweating buckets on this cold outside evening.
Frank’s live show experience is a very different thing to listening to his records; there is an energy that’s not conveyed digitally. There’s no mistaking this for a punk show, but it’s got that edge to it. The songs are faster than they should be and all the better for it. Frank’s fans aren’t singing those overly catching choruses, they’re screaming them for all that they’re worth.
A really good show.

Very sad to hear of the death of legendary songwriter BURT BACHARACH aged 94.
He and Hal David made so many classic songs on the 1960s and 1970s for other people.
Even The Stranglers covered 'Walk On By'.
He stayed in the background for many years, then around 20 years ago he started
playing concerts where he was singing the hits that he wrote for others.
I was lucky to have seen him perform three times...
Dionne Warwick + Elvis Costello + Bob Geldof + Brian Kennedy Royal Albert Hall , London 30.06.2000 They wrote so many classic songs together that were performed tonight over the 2 hours . Burt Bacharach and Hal David both were here on stage tonight.
July 2014 - Burt Bacharach with orchestra at The Royal Festival Hall.
July 2018 - Burt Bacharach with orchestra at The Royal Festival Hall.
