Sunday 12 March 2023. The 95th Academy Awards (The Oscars) are held in Los Angeles, USA. Live on SKY tv in the UK....Arrivals from 11pm...Ceremony from around midnight... Monday morning tv will be full of the award winners and highlights. ---------- Sunday 12 March 2023....8.15pm to 3.45am... THE 95th ACADEMY AWRDS (THE OSCARS) LIVE SCREENING , London W1. Around 200 invited guests over the four floors and many rooms of this private members club. Lots of complimentary drinks and food all night including... Champers , wines, beers, Espresso Martinis and Bloody Mary's throughout the event. The champers here is Brad Pitts brand, Fleur de Miraval, which took over from classic champers Piper-Heidsieck for the first time last year, and it was the first ever celebrity fizz to be served at the famous film event. The rosé sparkler was served during the 2023 ceremony, which took place at Hollywood’s famous Dolby Theatre, as well as at the official afterparty, the Governors Ball, and other star-studded Oscar-adjacent events across LA, New York and London. Selfridges sell it for £340 a bottle....some do it a bit cheaper. We had a very nice three course meal from 9pm before moving to view the 11pm arrivals on the big screens. Comfy sofas and chairs are in all the rooms with a big screen or two in each room. The staff are fussing over everyone and nobody needs to leave their seat for food or drinks. After midnight there are cheeseburgers, bacon rolls, mac n cheese bowls, brownies and Krispy creme donuts. The big winner was Everything Everywhere All At Once as it capped its triumphant awards season with seven Oscars – including best picture, best directors and three acting prizes. An excellent event. ------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- Sat 11 March and Sun 12 March - LUST FOR LIFE to be performed live at The Lexington, Islington. Two extra London shows added, as their 100 Club show on 01 March was sold out. A UK tour to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Iggy Pops classic album 'Lust For Life' (1977). It will actually be 46 years. Glen Matlock steps up at the last minute to replace Tony Fox Sales. Glen Matlock: “It will be a bit of a challenge stepping into the top player and gentleman Tony Sales’ shoes at the last minute but challenges put hairs on your chest and are not to be shirked. To be on stage with these fellow like-minded guys and gals and celebrate our collective musical ancestries should be a pleasure, so come on down and let’s all hit the roof together.” Clem Burke: “Due to Tony’s unfortunate last minute unavailability we’ve decided to soldier on with my mate and current Blondie bass player Glen Matlock . Everyone in the group is looking forward to a great night of Rock ‘n’ Roll with a few extra surprises in store .” Three of the band members, Glen Matlock, Clem Burke and Kevin Armstrong have toured with Iggy Pop and each has made an album with him: Glen Matlock (Soldier) in 1980, Clem Burke (Zombie Birdhouse) in 1982 and Kevin Armstrong (Blah Blah Blah) in 1986. On vocals will be Katie Puckrik. They will play the album in full , plus some classics from The Sex Pistols, Blondie and David Bowie. I was due to go on the Sunday....but then the OSCARS screening event above came up.
