Wednesday 07 June 2023....I went to two events today. 6.45pm to 9.30pm COUNTRY & TOWNHOUSE Magazine Party at The Rosewood Hotel , Holborn, London WC1. Always nice to be at this luxury five star hotel. A party to celebrate the 10th edition of Great British & Irish Hotels, edited by Fiona Duncan. It compiles over 200 incredible places to stay in the UK and Ireland, with thoughtful reviews of some of our best and brightest hotels and private homes. You can buy the hard copy magazine for £12.99 or view the highlights on their website. Around 150 guests here, and it is slightly more females than males. Guests included Jackie St Clair, Ed Vaisey and Alistair Guy. We had a speech at 7.30pm. Complimentary Berry Bros champers, wines, beers and canapes for all the guests. then 10pm to 1am Caught the last 30 mins of this great musical, and then the party after. It is on until 27 August 2023. -------- I saw this great musical a few times when it had its decade long stint at The Dominion. BRIAN MAY came on for the finale to play some guitar on 'Bohemian Rhapsody' tonight. ROD STEWART and wife PENNY left a good 15 mins before the end of the show. At the end BEN ELTON said a few words with BRIAN MAY and ROGER TAYLOR alongside him. From 10.30pm there were two different parties with around 150 guests in each. Orange wristband for the main artistes in the cast and their guests, including comp Laurent Perrier champers. White wristband for guests of the general cast members, including comp prosecco. Orange wristbands had Brian May, Roger Taylor and Ben Elton popping their heads in quickly for a bit. Neil Murray (ex Whitesnake bass player and others )was here as he is in the We Wiil Rock You band. Also spotted were Linda Robson, Lorraine Chase , Dexter Fletcher , Mark Fuller , Nigel Planer, Kate Thornton , Gareth Malone and Jonathan Shalit. Those still there at 1am when it finished included Brenda Edwards, Jennifer Saunders, Ade Edmondson, Kathy Lette ,Philip Sallon and a nice surprise to see Craig Cash (who plays Dave in The Royle Family) as i think he is still living and based in Manchester. -------------------------------- -------------------------------- Tuesday 06 June 2023...7pm to 10pm... SUMMER EXHIBITION PREVIEW PARTY 2023 at The Royal Academy of Arts, Piccadilly, London W1. Around 700 or 800 guests here , even though most have paid over £500 for their tickets. Over 1000 works of art , in the many different rooms here. Around 20 photographers taking pictures of any well known faces when they arrive in the courtyard. Guests included... GRAYSON PERRY (artist , who was dressed up amazingly as usual) , JACKIE ST CLAIR and Hubby CARL (who last month hired Eric Clapton for Carl's 70th birthday party at The River Cafe in Hammersmith) (i will put some photos of the event up on my Facebook page soon ) , DJ FAT TONY , DJ JODIE HARSH, DAVID DOWNTON (fashion illustrator), RON DENNIS (From 1981 to 2009 he was team principal of McLaren Formula One team), CHARLI XCX (singer) , LUKE EVANS (actor) CLAUDIA WINKLEMAN, STANLEY TUCCI, JONATHAN SHALIT (entertainment agent) LENNON & GENE GALLAGHER (sons of Liam), LILA MOSS (daughter of Kate Moss) , STELLA JONES ( daughter of Mick Jones - The Clash). Lots of females in very glam dresses. Three female djs are playing an hour each set in the main party room. At the end of the evening they always have a cool up and coming act perform in the courtyard. GABRIELS played a four song set from 9.25pm....the singer has a fantastic voice. Lots of complimentary drinks and food that was sponsored by Fortnum & Mason and Burburry. Fortnums champers, a few different cocktails, a seafood buffet including king prawns, oysters and seabass, and a cheese and hams buffet, chicken burgers, Chinese dumplings, canapes...and desserts including Eton Mess and Strawberry Tart.
