Thursday 08 June 2023...I went to two events tonight...
SISTER SLEDGE + THE REAL THING live at The Royal Albert Hall.
Sister Sledge will play hits like ‘Lost In Music’, ‘Thinking Of You, ‘We Are Family’ and many more. The Grammy-nominated group have accumulated over 15 million sales worldwide and earned multiple gold and platinum records, many of which were produced by Nile Rodgers, so you know you’re in for nothing but the best.
They'll be joined by seventies hitmakers The Real Thing, performing their No.1 hit ‘You To Me Are Everything’, alongside ‘Can’t Get By Without You’ and ‘Can You Feel The Force’.
I have seen Sister Sledge a few times since 1985 , when they headlined Hammersmith Odeon.
I have seen The Real Thing several times since 1975 when i saw all four shows when they supported
David Essex at Hammersmith Odeon.
------
The venue is over 90% sold for this very nice disco double-bill extraganza.
The venue lighting is kept low throughout and there is a giant disco glitter ball,
so it does feel like an actual disco, as folks are up and dancing and singing along to both acts.
THE REAL THING arrived on stage at 8.35pm for their 50 mins set.
A really good set including their classic hits 'Can't Get By Without You', 'You To Me Are Evergthing'
and 'Can You Feel The Force.
They dedicated a song to two members who have passed away.
SISTER SLEDGE arrived on stage at 9.50pm for their 70 mins set.
Lots of disco hits for this older crowd to get nostalgic for.
They finished their really good set with their anthem 'We Are Family'.
