NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY - re-opening party - St Martin's Place, London WC2.
National Portrait Gallery, one of London’s most high-profile museums, will reopen to the public on 22 June following a three-year closure. The Inspiring People redevelopment, the most extensive in the gallery’s 166-year history, is costing around £40m.
The NPG recently accepted a £10m gift towards the revamp from the foundation set up by the British-American businessman Leonard Blavatnik. To recognise the donation, the Trafalgar Square institution's will rename its first floor the “Blavatnik Wing”.
PRINCESS KATE MIDDLETON , PAUL McCARTNEY and TRACEY EMIN came here
to have a private peek during the day, and to avoid being pestered by the public.
A massive event in the evening as there must be around 1000 folks on the guest list.
The entire building and all its many floors and rooms are open tonight.
Portraits of famous folks dating back hundreds of years.
Also a classic Sex Pistols image, along with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Michael Eavis.
Several well known faces are here tonight including...
NICOLA ROBERTS (Girls Aloud)
PANDEMONIA (performance artist dressed in latex) (see photo on my Facebook page)
DAVID ARMSTRONG-JONES( 2nd Earl of Snowdon )
We had three djs playing an hour each on the ground floor.
They included PRINCESS JULIA and a nice surprise to see COURTNEY LOVE end the evening, who was vaping away non-stop in her pale blue designer dress.
Lots of complimentary drinks and food including Fortnum & Mason champers, two different
Patron Tequila cocktails, Gin & Tonics, wines along with bowl food and canapes from Fortnum & Mason
including Scottish Smoked Salmon and King Tiger Prawns,
