THE EAGLES OF DEATH METAL live at The Forum.
They were the band that were playing The Bataclan in Paris in 2015 during a terrorist attack.
Singer Jess Hughes, said the gig should have been the best of their tour and he had been “really excited” to play in Paris.
He said he recognised the sound of gunfire instantly when three gunmen with suicide vests burst in mid-show and opened fire. “Being from a desert community in California, I know the sound of gunshots,” he said.
While other band members hesitated and wondered what was going on, Hughes said he “knew death was upon us”. He said the band “ran for their lives” while “nearly 90 of my friends [the fans] were murdered in front of us”.
The band escaped through a side door after Hughes had found his girlfriend in the concert hall.
Despite their name, the band's music is a revved-up blend of garage rock, boogie rock and hard rock, with elements of glam rock, blues rock and swamp rock added.
-----------
The balcony area is half empty tonight, but still maybe 1500 folks here.
Support band THE STANDSTILLS arrived on stage at 8pm for their 30 mins set.
They are a rock trio from Canada ,with a great female drummer.
They played some really good tracks from their two albums.
A nice heavy rock sound like Queens of the Stone Age, that went down well with this crowd.
I wanted them to play a bit longer...top notch.
EAGLES OF DEATH METAL arrived on stage at 9.05pm and played for 1 hour 40 mins.
Singer Jesse arrives on stage wearing a red cape and tells the crowd " look at how much I love you motherfuckers, it's Independence Day and i am wearing a Union Jack waistcoat".
Jesse is very entertaining on stage , as he rants and jokes around and paces around the stage.
The band includes two females on bass and drums, with the foxy blonde bass player all in red.
Plenty of moshing during their rockin' tunes.
We had a very nice surprise for the first encore as Stray Cat SLIM JIM PHANTOM came on stage
to play The Stray Cats gem 'Rock This Town' which was mega...I learned later that Jim is married to
that foxy bass player in EADM.
It was a great show from both bands.
Full EADM setlist played tonight....
