then...
HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES + THE TUBES live at The 02 Arena.
Hollywood Vampires is an American rock supergroup formed in 2012 by Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and Joe Perry , and played their first proper shows in 2015.
The band name derives from The Hollywood Vampires, a celebrity drinking club.
They have released two studio albums, and are playing a full European Tour.
Their last London show was at Wembley Arena , prior to covid...which i missed as a big clash that night.
A very nice pair of bands package are playing half a dozen UK arena shows including...
I have seen The Tubes live several tines since 1977 , when they headlined Hammersmith Odeon.
I got the 12 " inch version of 'White Punks On Dope' signed by singer Fee Faybill over 40 years ago.
-----------
Upstairs in Level 4 is 75% unsold.
Nice to bump into Richard England (Cadiz Music) and Eugene Butcher (Vive Le Rock Mag).
I must admit i was really looking forward to seeing The Tubes tonight.
Just 40 mins on stage from 7.30pm to 8.10pm , but they played the wrong songs in such limited time.
'White Punks On Dope' and 'Talk to Ya Later ' were great , but why two lame cover versions and a drum solo
when you are only playing seven songs...totally bizarre...they should have been much better.
They didn't have use of the big screens either.
Full setlist played by THE TUBES tonight..
She's a Beauty
Mr. Hate
(If You're Looking For) Trouble (Elvis Presley cover)
Let There Be Drums
White Punks on Dope
Talk to Ya Later
I Saw Her Standing There (The Beatles cover)
-------
Legendary rock photographer Ross Halfin is here again in the pit for the entire show.
HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES arrive on stage at 8.55pm for their 1 hour 40 mins set.
They have a nice production, with all the big screens and lots of lights.
Seven musicians on stage including three guitarists.
The three main guys take it in turns to share the lead vocals.
Oddly Johnny Depp gets more cheers and higher billing in band introduction than Joe Perry.
Lots of the songs were related to dead rock stars...including two members of The Who,
David Bowie ,Jim Morrison, Bon Scott, Jim Carroll and great to see Johnny Thunders get a mention.
Alice Cooper is always a great frontman to watch on stage.
There is a extended catwalk that he uses every now and then.
Great to see RONNIE WOOD come on stage for a couple of songs near the end, also IMELDA MAY.
An excellent show.
Full HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES setlist played tonight....
