Wednesday 26 July 2023. Another great singer sadly passes...R.I.P. Irish singer and activist SINEAD O'CONNOR has died at the age of 56. In a statement, the singer's family said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. "Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time." Sinead was best known for her single 'Nothing Compares 2 U', released in 1990, which went on to hit number one around the world. I was lucky enough to see Sinead perform around a dozen times. First time was twice back in 1987 when she supported INXS at Hammersmith Odeon, and her band featured two members of The Smiths. Also in 1990 , when her band featured Marco Pirroni. Most recent was Dec 2019 at Shepherds Bush Empire. ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- Wednesday 26 July 2023. Happy Birthday to MICK JAGGER who reaches the grand old age of 80 today. I have been lucky enough to see The Rolling Stones on stage over 20 times, since four of their six shows at Earls Court Arena in May 1976. Also Mick Jagger Allstars Blues Band at Hammersmith Apollo in 1992. ----------------------------- ----------------------------- Tuesday 25 July 2023...6.45pm to 9.30pm... FOUR HUNDRED RABBITS - launch party - 6a Battersea Rise, London SW11. Top notch pizzeria opens another outlet. The Four Hundred Rabbits pizzerias are all about that fermentation, with an official certificate to prove (pun intended) the authenticity of their 72-hour sourdough. The family-owned business features an assortment of toppings ranging from classic tomatoes and mozzarella to seldom-seen choices such as rhubarb or gruyere. You can complement your pie with craft beers, cocktails, wines, or soft drinks. The Battersea Rise branch offers outdoor seating as well. A nice buzzy atmosphere here. Complimentary wines, beers and lots of their different yummy sourdough pizza. They have a 50% off pizza soft opening this weekend (Friday , Saturday, Sunday). Happy Hour every day 4pm to 6pm...cocktails, wines, beers are all £5. Pizza and drink combined special offers on a Tuesday. ---------------------------- ---------------------------- Monday 24 July 2023. Sad news that Birmingham born singer-songwriter RAYMOND FROGGATT has passed away. Raymond and his band were the first ever live band i saw when i watched them supporting WIZZARD at Hammersmith Palais in Sept 1973....My first proper gig that has now gone past 7000 gigs seen by me. In the 1970s, his band was managed by Don Arden, hoping to break into the United States music scene, but the experience led to the collapse of the band. He later became an internationally recognised country music performer, releasing Here's to Everyone (1993) on his Red Balloon record label. Froggatt's autobiography, Raymond Who, followed in 1995. Froggatt died at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on 23 July 2023, at the age of 81.
