Monday 14 August 2023. HANS ZIMMER is part of a group that has bought the BBC’s storied Maida Vale recording studio, apparently saving it from closure. The BBC did not disclose the sale price in its official announcement, but reports indicate that the group paid £10.5 million (about $13.325 million). Maida Vale went up for sale in 2018, prompting Nigel Godrich, Geoff Barrow, and many other artists to pressure the BBC to reconsider. The west London studio has, for decades, hosted illustrious artists including David Bowie, Beyoncé, and Led Zeppelin, who would typically record sessions to air on BBC radio and sometimes repackage them later for wide release, either as standalone records—à la the recent Broadcast set—or appended to reissues as bonus tracks. To what degree the studio will remain intact in its current form remains to be seen. Zimmer bought Maida Vale with his business partner, Steven Kofsky, and Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, the co-chairmen of the British film studio Working Title Films. According to the BBC, the building will continue to operate as a studio space. There are also plans to create a nonprofit education facility. The BBC plans to open its own new BBC Music Studios in London’s East Bank in late 2025. -------------------------------- -------------------------------- Sunday 13 August 2023...1pm to 4pm... She is in Europe for a few shows in the middle of her massive North American tour. She has had three stand-up comedy specials on Netflix. ----------- Pretty amazing how popular ALI WONG is in the UK. Two shows today at 5.30pm and 9pm....I ended up watching both of them. Stalls seated so 4000 capacity tonight, not sold out , but both shows pretty full. Lots of folks from Asia here. Tickets not cheap either , as they ranged from £50 to £80. No big screen or any other type of stage production here. Signs everywhere...No Heckling , No Photos, No Videos. Support act SHENG WANG was the American male comedian who supported her. He did around 25 mins which was good , and he went down well with the crowd. ALI WONG was on stage for around 60 mins for both shows. She turns up on stage wearing a tracksuit and trainers. She soon announces that she got divorced in 2022 , and is now a divorcee aged 41 with two kids. Pretty much all her set was how she was enjoying single life, after her divorce. Ali Wong talk about? Life post-divorce. Mainly getting dicked down and enjoying the gift of experience. She has been loved, has kids, and got married, so now the need for compromise and all the stuff she hated about a real committed relationship? F*** all that. Now, does that mean she is against love? Absolutely not. But being 41, divorced, and desired in ways she wasn’t in her teens and twenties? You gotta be pretty special for her to give up this newfound freedom, men from 25 to 60 courting her, and her patience being lower than ever with men. Lots of swearing throughout, and graphic description of sex acts. It was from a females point of view, so the females in the crowd cheered loudly often. She was very funny, even though 60 mins on stage felt a bit short.
